today i changed over the door trims on my lancer. i was surprised at how easy it was to get the door panels off. its weird though mitsi use only 3 screws to hold the panel on, but have like 17screws to hold the fabric trim piece i needed on.
this is the only pic i have at the moment, i will take more pics tomorrow with a proper camera.

Shannon,
I've wondered about doing the door trims Bentley-style, with a diamond stitch pattern:
I don't want to irreversibly change whats there, so would it be possible to just wrap a layer of leather (and some thin foam to give it cooshiness) over the existing trim? Although now that I say this I'm guessing without gluing it up against the backing it wouldn't work. Might just see what the factory leather parts off an LX are worth.

that would be so hard to do i reckon. have you seen kimmy's? she has plain fabric and stitched pink daimond pattern into it. i dont know if putting foam underneath would work. you would have to use heaps of glue. i used leather on mine which looks really cool but wasnt the easiest thing to work with.
