Yes Plastidip would have been my second alternate...haven't really seen one applied anywhere...but youtube shows I might like it... I like the texture that it creates.

Unfortunately I've been a bit absent from cruises of late, work and study makes it hard to find the time, but I'll hopefully make the next one and then you can have a look at mine :)
