CJ vs CF Front bumpers

Postby dandos » Sun Apr 07, 2019 3:14 pm

Hey everyone, first-time poster here
Do CJ front bumpers fit on the newer CF models?
Been looking for a grey vrx for a few months now and none have popped up so am thinking about getting a 2017 GSR CF instead.
I really hate the new CF front bumpers so would get a CJ Vrx/ralliart style front bar for the car ASAP, but cant find any information if the parts are interchangeable (including the fog lights).

On a side note, is the 2.4 litre that much better than the 2.0? and should i just bite the bullet and get a sport model instead of hunting for the faster VRX/GSR? going with CVT btw
My planned list of mods are:
- Eibach pro kit springs
- Ralliart snorkel
- dual exit catback XFORCE
- Drop in filter
- Talon rear diffuser
- Aftermarket front bar if needed
- Audi style lights
- strut bars

Thanks for any help at all :D

The bumpers are interchangeable as far as I know but you may need the under tray for the one you choose, the headlights are identical size and fit for the CF/CJ.

Yes you will notice the difference with the 2.4 over the 2.0, especially with CVT.

If I was replacing my 09 VRX today I'd get the MY15 with folding mirrors, with indicators. I'd also get the VRX or GSR something with keyless start and auto wipers/lights.

The CFs are gonna cost more than the last of the CJs.

Someone else can probably cover the other things better than me but if you're planning all those changes you may want something a little older but with the specs you want, but its your money.

You will find that you will need the Styrofoam pieces from behind the bumper as well as they are different between the CJ and CF series.

Also might need to check on DRLs as the CF has them I'm not sure if legally you can remove them, but if you're putting Audi style headlights then set up right those DRLs should work fine, and you should have the wiring in place on a CF so they come on automatically when the engine starts.

Oh yeah and on that, No the fog lights and grilles etc will not fit from one bar to the other, you can get some DRLs from eBay for under $130) that will fit the older CJ lancer bars (like those on the 08-10 lancers).

Yes I got DRLs for my MY09 they go under the fog lights.

But the other option is headlights with built in DRLs, and since the CF has the wiring for DRLs it should be an easy install for an expert.

If you are buying second hand then the 2.4 is the way to go, and the CJ ecu is tunable.
