Mitsubishi Lancer VRX 2009 Questions

Postby XTPN » Sun Mar 22, 2015 12:32 pm

Hello everyone, hope all is well. I've been looking into the VRX for a while and been feeling very keen to own. I came across this deal on Gumtree:

http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/rockdale ... 1073325031

What do you guys think? Anything shady? It seems too cheap for how much it has driven IMO. The post has been up for a bit over a week now, and I am still surprised no one has bought it yet due to its low price. Maybe there's a reason behind it? I called the seller today and asked why he didn't provide the number plate, he said because it's a personalised number plate which he intends to keep. How does this work? Will the seller provide a new number plate after I purchase it? Sorry for all the questions, I'm new to this (will be my first car if I purchase it).

I have also checked the VIN of this car on: https://transact.ppsr.gov.au/ppsr/Home?si=0

There is no record of the car being stolen, written off or having any outstanding payments. However there is no registration details under the VIN, could that mean anything?

Lastly, is there anything I should look out for whilst going for an inspection?

Any reply would be heaps helpful,
Thank you!

Ditto, go with someone, check it out and take a drive. ask if you can get it inspected.

Otherwise it sounds like a great bargain for an 08' VRX (Check to see if it's MY08 or MY09?) but with less than 50k on it I'd get it at that price.

I'd jump on it with those k's. I bought an 08 my09 last year for $7000 but with 160k klm's. Have kept my fingers crossed since then that nothing major goes wrong but so far so good.

If its the 2.4l engine he would probs get 7000 on trade 6000 on a 2l. So sellong it on gumtree will get more for him

make sure it is a 2.4L because some of the early VRX's were actually still a 2L, engine code for the 2.4L motor is 4B12, the 2L motor is 4B11, might also be part of the reason why its so cheap

Thank you everyone for the responses, already starting to like this community! I will ask for a test drive during inspection and MAYBE get a mechanic to do a pre-inspection test(do you guys think its worth it?).

Correct if I'm wrong but aren't the late 2008 and onward models 2.4L? The seller has listed the car as a 2009, it also has the black tail lights.

Thanks again everyone!

Oh, I just checked the VIN record again. It's a 4B12!
