I love the lack of researcher from the dude who wrote it about engine noise complaints
A look thru the service manual will show the lack of sound deadening in the car.
And to avoid cars with more then 90K on it. Lol
The 4b11/12 are tough as nails
And old mate in the article has a Sook cos no turbo.

Don't need a turbo
The ecu is deliberately detuned from the factory.
There's a ton of power to be unlocked in the ecu it's not funny
Swap out the inlet and exhaust cams and a decent ecu tune and kick some serious backside

Mine has 150k on it and no plays to replace it soon.

Going down the coast the other day I was getting less than 8Lt/100km, which is not bad for the 4B12 and it doesn't sound of feel rough. Yes road noise can be a little loud at time but not annoyingly for the age of the design and yes there are solutions. Some with the sound system, you want CarPlay or Android Auto its not a costly or hard upgrade.

I still wish they ahem done more with the car but like Nissan Mitsubishi is going SUV which leaves less choice for us who want or only need a sedan in the future.

A decent tune on a 4b12 on highway is more like 6L/100

I think that Electric cars are most certainly the way of the future.
VW have proved this at pikes peek
Tesla is doing extremely well.
All we need now is an electric car that can do.1000kays on a battery
And a quick swap battery at a servo or a super quick recharge get people moving
Once that happens we can kiss fossil fuels bye-bye
I see Brisbane is getting a ton of new electric busses in the near future also
There is some at the airport already to move staff around big orange ones I think they were last time I saw them

There was news story over the weekend about a 1000km range battery, so it will happen.
And if you want to keep your CJ there are companies taking Tesla parts and modernising old petrol cars to all electric.

Charging with a fast charger shouldn't be an issue, start on a full over night charge when on a long road trip you stop after a couple of hours for food and coffee, plug it in to top it up and 30 min will get you topped up with plenty of charge to get you to the next pit stop and some more juice, then over night it gets back up to 100%.

Only one thing wrong with converting the CJ to electric

I love listening to the sound of the engine scream its head off especially on track


30 minutes recharge is too long
I have no doubt Tesla know this
It needs to be quick like fuelling up now
Generic batteries that can be swapped out in a mater of minutes is the go
There is a competitor to Tesla starting up I heard of the other week
Can't remember who they were
We need generic batteries between the two
Swap in and out real easy
I have no doubt we will get there
It's just a matter of time

I was talking top up with some cars now getting 400-500km range, drive till its 50%, stop for a break and cheat it up to say 80% will get you to the next stop with range to burn. The idea being you top it up at every stop but it 10 min or a couple of hours. And yes those times are getting better all the time.

For most cars swapping out the batteries will be more problems than benefits.

As for the noise I agree its something I'll miss, one thing I love about a manual over CVT you get to make noise you want, be it revving it on the down change or going to the redline and making it scream. That said when a Tesla can outdoing a racing Lambo in a strait line this is probably all forgotten the first time you experience that 'warp' power under your right foot.

I'd love to see loads of cars having EV conversions, right now its limited to enthusiasts who have a classic car they want to live on, so for something you might take out once a week its perfect.

The range of the cars in the store I posted was surprisingly short, might be okay for your average commute where you can top it up at work and home but if you're out of juice after a couple of hours I would have had to spend the night in Nerang last week, no one wants to do that! LOL

The electric motor when it comes to power leaves the internal combustion motor for dead any day
Biggest reason is the internal combustion motor must reach high rpm to produce all its torque
The electric motor cam make all its torque right from zero RPM
Once we have the battery life and distance sorted and speed of recharge sorted and at a price point that's decent the electric car will flourish
