NEED HELP ASAP WITH BRAKE LIGHTS!!

Postby luke_1993 » Fri Mar 25, 2016 7:21 pm

So i've had my mars performance tail lights for well over 4 months, and i just recently noticed that my brake lights are not working properly. And when i mean not working properly, they sometimes work and other times they flicker on and off when applying brakes. I checked to see if there was a loose connection that looked fine, checked the fuse and that was fine to.

So this is why i'm asking for help because i have no idea what to do now *help*

Do they flicker like it's a loose connection (i.e. randomly), or do they 'strobe' ?

Check out the switch that is near the brake pedal, if that's loose or making poor contact, it'll flick.

More info needed on the nature of the flicking (poor contact or strobe).

The brake pedal switch drives the brake lights -I'll find it in the workshop manual and link you.

See the stop lamp switch? If that's loose, it could go on and off.. but there's also a possible loose connection or bad ground elsewhere too.

When you say they flicker, is it just as if its a loose connection?

Does it do the same when you turn the head lights on?

Hate to say it but what if it's the lights them selves?

Do you have the stock lights to test to see if they are doing it?

How many Kay's on the clock ?
Had to do a replacement brake switch on an Auto ES few months back it had all kinds of issues including not getting out of park. Everything you need including part number for the switch is below. The switch is the same on the auto and manual job

If you buy the genuine one from Mitsy your looking around $50
Buy the exact same unit from Hong Kong from eBay delivered to your door for about half price or even less.
Buy a few and throw them in your drawer for a rainy day
