HID Headlights for 2010 VRX

Postby Dyl619 » Sat Dec 19, 2015 12:40 am

Was looking around for a new pair of HID headlights around 8000k as I have heard that is the legal colour temp limit. Just wanted to confirm my find and make sure it will fit on my VRX.

Ebay Find: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Xentec-Super ... pwxi1L9Qdw

If anyone has brought something similer the the same vehicle, i'd love to hear what you got!

Yes with the right globes that will fit. Keep in mind that aftermarket HID kits are illegal. Also you may need to get a headlight housing designed to withstand HIDs as they get hot. Unless you have a self-leveling system and washers its illegal. I have 8000K HIDs in my car at the moment I got a whole new housing as well thats designed for HIDs and I'm looking into getting dimmer globes and self levelling motors as at night I get flashed by a lot of people who think I'm high beaming.

No HID kits are legal for a vrx. They must be in projector headlights with automatic levellers and have washers to clean them.
HID are great lights but only when fitted in the correct lights. Unfortunately when they are fitted to reflector headlights they don't focus properly and spray the light all over the place, which gives the driver poor night vision and blinds oncoming drivers.
Police are getting very hot on this mod and if you are found to have caused an accident because of blinding another driver you could be found liable of the accident.

Only legal if you have washers and self levellers. I said it was illegal as I didnt think the VRX had them and from his post im assuming he wants to use the stock headligbt housing. Doesn't need to be projectora though as some stock HID setups have reflective housing. As long as the housing is designed for HIDs.

You want see squat with 8000K, you should only go 5000-6000k at most, but even then like others have said they are illegal.

"EXACTLY CORRECT" ....

I have an Aspire which come OEM with Projector 4200K D2S HID Globes.
I replaced them with Philips 6000K D2S HID Globes.

The result was just perfect for me .... Clearer & Crisper White Light on the Road without losing much forward / distance projection .... *thumb*

When selecting HID Color Temps, you need to realise that the higher the Temp Range (4000K to 8000K) the Bluer / Purple the Light & the Less Light Projection on the road .... :(

6000k is best for brightness. As my master SAM-24A said, you can see more with white

Mine are 8000K and they're clear as day I only notice a very very slight blue tinge when i first turn the ligbts on for a few aeconds then its all white. And from the front of the car if i squat down and i am at a certain angle to the lights they appear blue. From the drivers seat its just a very bright white light. Ill take some photos when not raining
