Rotor upgrade/replacement

Postby spunkybob » Wed Mar 13, 2013 1:48 pm

Hi All,

My rotors need machining and I have already done it in the past so I am looking to replace them as the cost seems about the same.

I was wondering if either of these would be OK as I just drive on the road and sometimes the local national parks.

RDA Drilled/Slotted

or

DBA Standard

Thanks guys... :)

Yep GSL are very good. I went with them for a brake upgrade for my XR5 last year.

Yeah get em from GSL

I got the HPX pads (whatever the arrangement of letters is) and the front slotted T2 rotors i think

Much better performance over stock. For Front and rear rotors and front and rear pads all up $450

Nice upgrade for the price. Rear rotors are just OEM replacements though...

Hey Darren, what was the model number again for the rears? I remember we spoke about it before but I cant seem to find it.

Though, I went for it and got the DBA T2 rotors that you recommended me last time we spoke (same ones as yours). I couldn't help it. I hope the group buy doesn't go pay now too soon. LOL :P

Now I got to think about what pads to put in. :D

rears are 2209, good luck findong any. People advertise them but then if you ask if they're on the shelf you get double talk in reply, which means they don't but will take your money anyway. Since the rears only do 15% of the work, I'd tend to leave the stock rotors and upgrade the pads. I've been recommended Girling by a bloke I trust, inexpensive and good heat range

Thanks for the info Darren. Yeah, hard to come by that part number. Was thinking of keeping the rear stock, but upgrading the pads. I'm still deciding on what to get, so my fronts are just sitting on my bedroom floor. Pretty fast shipping from that ebay supplier.

But I don't think anything will be installed this month. With the service and birthdays. It's going to be tight. Plus still waiting on the cost of the sway bar group buy.

I have the HPX pads, no dust, do the job, I'm not connvinced about them though long term, under heavy use I can smell them burning
