Not very happy with the rotors that DBA sent me

Just picked up a set of front DBA 4000 rotors (slotted/drilled) that GSLrallysport sold me (rotors were sent direct from DBA),
when pulling them out of the packing I found they had on both some of the gold paint on the inside surface. see below

I'm pretty unimpressed with the quality from DBA if they let this out of the factory :cry: .
I've emailed GSLrallysport to see if they can be returned. So I'm waiting for Greg (GSL) to reply.
(So far the service from GSLrallysport has been excellent.)

Has anyone else had any probs with DBA products?

(both disc have this in a few places)
btw i've tried removing the bits of paint with brake clean and 90% isopropyl but hasn't come off thinking of trying acetone but will wait and see what GSL comeback with.

That will probably come off when you get some heat into the discs, the pads will wear off anything that is in the contact area as well.

With the cost of sending back etc it, I personally would fit them, but that is me :)

That looks like a bit of surface rust. Nothing to worry about IMHO.

Your discs will have that all over within a thousand kilometres.

I say surface rust, looks like it could have been an area where the packing oil did not cover. As Troy and Shane said that will go the first time you hit the brakes.

sorry the pic isn't that great but it isn't rust its the gold paint they use to paint hub section, Im not to keen on just fitting them and see how they go as it might contaminate the pads and rotor surface.

if its just paint there wont be a problem, when i swapped discs on my old commodore, there was some surface rust so i cleaned it up and painted the disc. but i was lazy and just painted the WHOLE disc, took the car for a drive, foot on brake, stunk like burning paint but cleaned up nicely. noticed no difference in braking after one hard brake

Rotors are permanently rusting and brake pads get mud and anything else you drive through on them. Stop being so fussy. :lol:

Why haven't you tried acetone? Its only paint, it'll come off with something.

ok will just remove it myself, I was installing rear swaybar last night and as its a real pain in the ass on the ralliarts I was a bit moody.
