Which Brake pads are better ?

Postby denzza » Tue Oct 22, 2013 6:08 pm

Hi guys, i cant decide which brake pads are better! Its for a Lancer with a 4B11T motor in it. Brakes have been upgraded to the Ralliart ones.

Now the pads im not too sure whats better ? I need pads to hold atleast 180kws of power and hill climbs!

Theres the BREMBO pads, but i cant find anything good on them ? Are they just standard replacement ones or they an upgrade ?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... TQ:AU:1123

Or

Project Mu Spec B brake pads ? heard alot of good this about them. and thats around $200 for pads,

http://www.project-mu.com.au/en/products/pad_bspec.php

Thanks guys!

EBC green stuff. if you are tracking this car more frequently than daily driving i would suggest red stuff.
quality pads made in the UK with detailed information.
oh and not much dust when paired with the right rotors
look it up.

Selecting good pads is a hard question to answer because it depends on vehicle use. Great pads for track won't be good for suburban streets because they don't brake well when cold. And good pads that work well when cold can't take the heat of track use. Also some pads can be very hard on discs which can become very expensive.
Sorry Daniel I can not agree with you on EBC pads. They are well marketed but over priced and not the greatest pads.
I found Elig pads very good and not expensive compared to other brands.

I used QFM pads on my Chaser and bought a set to put on the Ralliart. Haven't tried them on the RA yet but they worked very well on the Chaser. Noticable improvement in stopping. Cheap too, less than $100 for fronts. I think they are made in Aus. Bit dusty though.

When i had my evo

EBC- GREEN stuff....Rubbish, I got my discs to glow, stopping was not good
EBC - RED stuff..And OK pad, needs alot of heat to get them to stop nice, but brake fade comes very quick on these, noisy when cold and not to bad on dust
EBC- YELLOW stuff...Only for track

Bendix Ulitmates- Chew out rotors and RUBBISH for a performance pad vs $$$

Project Mu- Chew out rotors, and require alot of heat to get them to work good, Track pad only

Ferodo DS2500- Excellent Brake Pad all round, Work excellent when cold or hot and take a while to get brake fade....Dusty as hell but damn worth every dollar, but do not sit on the pads after they get hot otherwise you will crack/warp your rotors

Ferodo DS3000- Only for track

Hawk- These make the ferodos feel like bendix general ct pads, they have so much force when stopping its enough to give you whiplash and brake your neck....your abs will be kicking in every time you stomp on these pads, Only for a track car with the brake booster and abs GONE!

Go the Ferodo ds2500 you will be more than happy after bedding in

So choose your poison carefully

There is also remsa, I haven't used them but have been recommended to me. I've currently got ebc redstuff stop ok when cold, get better when they warm up but I have cooked them a few times, might try something else next time to see how they compare. They have been on for just over a year and it's time to replace them.

DENIS...DONT USE RDA rotors on your car once that motor goes in

I have CRACKED rda rotors on my previous lancer like yours a few years ago....and let me say it was a close call

Brembo pads from memory are Ferodo Ds2500

I have Remsa.

They are pretty good, though they do give out heaps of brake dust. Then again, I assume that's the same with all high performance pads.

I have rda slotted on at the moment and seem to get hot and turn blue quick. Going to try dba t3 slotted next time. Still deciding on pads.

Steer away from RDA they are cheaper metals....Spend the extra money on DBA....Im talking from experience!!! if not just use OEM

Get "brembo" brake pads out your head, just purchase ferodo ds 2500 from your local autobarn or jap parts shop....u rather be safe than sorry
