there is one thing that bugs me about these brakes.

Do we have to use their pads? I'd much rather use pad's that are engineered for the australian environment. Maybe this is a stupid question but...are their pad's different and can we swap them out

Alrighty so they got back to me. Here is what they said. Also the pictures on the MAP website are wrong. Hence why everyone was wondering why the rotors were weirdly shaped.

The Ralliart brake system DOES NOT fit the original wheels. The caliper is too wide and contacts the wheel spokes.

The RA systems were designed to match the them of the Ralliart platform; increased performance while maintaining cost effectiveness. Superior torque output, stopping power and pedal feel over the OEM system, with a much longer component life as well. The front system uses patented F3 Tornado four piston calipers, and #82 compound high performance street pads. A larger than stock one piece Superbrake type rotor is used for increased thermal capacity.Complete with calipers, pads, rotors, brackets, hardware, and lines. The rear system uses F1 two piston calipers and #82 compound pads, which fits the OEM brake rotor. The rear system includes calipers, pads, brackets, hardware, and stainless steel lines. An OEM size rotor in our Superbrakes line is an optional upgrade.

The RA systems are not designed for dedicated racetrack use; our EVOX brake system is the appropriate system for racing use.

The offset is what is required for caliper clearance; every wheel is different even at a nominal width like 8".
The caliper protrudes 1.50" past the outer face of the brake rotor hub where the wheel mounts. The wheel offset must be equal to or greater than that.

was just directed to this site when updating our RA page and checking SEO on that page.

http://www.maperformance.com/mitsubishi ... rake-kits/

That is totallly and completely not the RA Storm brake system. That is an image MAP must be using as a representation of all Brake Man kits.

The front RA system uses F3 front calipers and Superbrakes one-piece front rotors. That picture shows F4 calipers and two-piece convoluted procast brake rotors.
The rear RA system uses F1 calipers and stock dimension Superbrakes one piece rotors. That photo shows Revolution two piece rotors.

I can't be responsible for dealer website images but I have contacted them about this. But you need to be absolutely clear what you are purchasing with the RA brake system.

I will try to arrange a photo shoot of the RA system for you complete the next time we do a product shoot.

Here are a few pictures they sent me.

so i went and converted it. 1.5" is 38.1mm so we'd need at least a +40 offset. it's going to be... close.

And thanks for doing all the research Josh! What do you think about it so far?

for the price, why not get the evo brakes and rotors, and then have the adapters made up to fit onto the mounting points on the knuckle if it doesnt fit already.

In that case you get a larger selection of brake pads and rotors to choose from and not be limited to the ones made specifically for that bbk.

Simple rule with brakes you should follow, if its not OEM or a WELL known brand in brakes (brembo, Stop tech, Ap Racing etc...) dont put your life at risk with crap brakes that can put you in danger!

I have seen the aftermath of good looking but crap quality of "after market" brake kits, even some of the really expensive stuff...I have seen the nasty K-Sport brake packages brand new out the box have dangerous defective faults with them, Go do some research on k sport and you will see.....

Personally i will only ever use brembo calipers, brembo discs, dot approved teflon coated braided brake lines, Test and proven high quailty brake fluid, and good pads!

The special thing with brembo discs is that there SLOTS and HOLES are actually done during the casting process of the disc, they dont drill holes and slots in them AFTER the disc has been made...It takes much longer, and costs more, and LOW Failure rate....

Thats why brembos cost alot of damn money....
