Brake pads for ralliart

Postby Craker » Sat Jun 02, 2012 11:02 pm

Was wondering if any one has used the Bec red stuff pads and what they are like for daily driving and heavy use. Have been recommended by a brake place to just get green stuff on the rears is this a good combo or can anyone recommend other pads. It won't get driven on track very often if at all but will get driven hard up and down mountain passes.

Ran a similar question via gslrallysport - a club sponsor. Recommended the QFM pads which a lot of owners here have fitted with excellent results and feedback. I believe they warm up slightly quicker than the EBC's, so better stopping power from the get go. Don't have them fitted myself just yet, but hopefully somebody who does pipes up gives you some info

they also recommend remsas, which i have.
bit dusty but couple that with a high temp 600 fluid and they are so much better than oem on the twisties, so far no fade whatsoever.
i cant comment on the QFM, never used them.

I haven't read anything bout the qfm's where can I get some info on them. So far I've looked at hawk hps, intima 6300, bendix and ferrodo's all seem to have products in th street performance category and claim similar things.

They're a WA company so info should be pretty easy to find on google.
Here's what the bloke said to me:

"I can supply you a pad called QFM HPX. These are a Bendix ultimate equivalent in terms of performance, but have none of the dust and rotor wear problems like the Bendix does."

Flick them off an email for more info - shipping quotes were very reasonable to Victoria, so Sydney probs even better

GSL is in QLD.

I run the QFM A1RM which is equivalent to about a Ferodo DS2500. The only time I have ever been able to cook them is on Symmon's Plains circuit.

Just remember that any performance pad is going to be dusty...

I have DBA4000s, and there is a slight lip after the pads doing about 40,000kms... Would react differently to an OEM disc I would suspect, as they would probably be softer...

I'm thinking of changing my rotors and pads. been recommended by GSL to get some DBA T3 4000's and QFM HPX. Just wondering... is it easy to swap all these out yourself or better to find a mechanic (I'm thinking Mechanic since i have no clue what i'd be doing anyway) and how long it would take to change it all.

ferrodo DS2500 i would not use any other pad for street with light track work

pads and rotors are very easy to do should take about 1.5hrs all up to do 4 with help from friend, you should do brake fuild as well

Depending on what if any engine upgrades you have along with what you will be using the car for,eg track, daily driver or a combination of everything,i had a wrx before i woke up to myself which had a MRT XC kit making it very quick and therefore did a Brake upgrade consisting of DBA 5000 series rotors on front and DBA 4000 on rear, all slotted Braded break lines Bendix performance pads and upgraded break fluid, ivenever had a car that could stop like that
