Personally I would strongly encourage you to consider a second-hand VRX (with the 2.4L engine of course).

If you're tight for money though you'll probably want a little bit of breathing room in your budget just in case it needs anything fixed.

Best of luck in whatever you decide :)

Yeah VRX's aren't turbos.
Normal lancers have 2.0L engines, VRX's (well most of them) and Aspires's have 2.4L engines.

Its only a tiny bit more powerful :P I still get jealous of VRX drivers though haha.

I can't remember what year they started having 2.4L engines... 2009 maybe?

But like I said, if money is a bit tight, might be better getting a new car with the warranty. Its the 'safer' choice.

Yeah true, thats the main reason why I'm aiming for a new car. The only relevant VRX on carsales to me (blue, auto) is a 2007 model and has a 2.0L engine so no real incentive there.

Yeah of course, otherwise wouldn't be posting here haha ;) I just have to sort something out so I can get an SX, or the MY12 equivalent of an SX. Second-hand VRXs are good but I need an auto lightning blue one, and there aren't any of them

I have a VRX and they are great cars with all the features like Bluetooth, 18 alloys, rain sensing wipers, auto head lights, high rise spoiler, Rockford Fosgate premium sound system, just to name a few.

From what I know only the MY08 model VRX Lancer's have the 2.0 Litre motor instead of the 2.4. So Lancers built in early 2007 that are MY07 are 2.4L and MY09 Lancers built later in 2008 have the 2.4L right up to today..

I know this because when I bought my MY08 VRX secondhand the dealer advertised it as being as 2.4L but turns out it was only a 2.0 when I went to change the warranty over to my name. And there is no other was to tell if it is a 2.0L or a 2.4L.

Have you tried Car Sales (www.carsales.com.au) quite a few blue VRX's on their website for sale.

incorrect, the 2L models have the Red Taillights, the 2.4L have the Black taillights, In the VRX models. also the the engine 2.4L is 4B12 the 2L is 4B11 and it will say (pretty sure the plaque is in the engine bay)

What about the CH VRX that looks the same as the CJ model. The early 2007 (MY07) models had red tail lights also and they were 2.4L too!
