Thinking of buying a 2010 MY11 VRX Sportback.

Postby Rbrash10 » Sun May 15, 2011 11:03 am

Well am in the market on purchasing a 2010 VRX Sportwagon with 600km's after my Commodore was pretty much written off.... Just doing a bit of research, is there anything that i should be looking out for?
The one i am looking at is a 5 sp Manual with the Rockford system and the in dash GPS. Took it for a drive and love the way it handled, much better than my Commodore....
Obviously the Capped servicing and fuel economy is a big plus for me. But is there anything to be weary off when purchasing the VRX.
Here's a couple of Pics of the Commodore...
Thanks in advance

Woah glad you are OK.

There are no real major issues with the Lancer range, so you are pretty safe. Plus Mitsu have one of the best warranties around.

If you can, go and see Nick at PMR. He is a great guy and I am sure will look after you.

Thanks for the quick response....
but what is PMR?
I took the lancer for a spin, and boy it does stick to the road like glue.... Just love the feel and the way it handles

PMR = Preston Motors Ralliart.

They are in Campbellfield along Sydney Road.
They are a ClubCJ sponsor.

PMR is the dealer at: http://www.prestonmotors.com.au/mitsubi ... lfield.php

Others have had a good experience dealing with them.

How much are you looking to spend on the VRX? The Aspire gets a lot more gear for not much more money, although I think it's only available in sedan form.

If you like manual cars do not by the aspire. CVT isn't all that great

If you're looking at around 35K get the Aspire.

For a few thousand dollars more you get leather, MMCS, HIDs, woodgrain interior etc.
It is much more worth the money.

I have the VRX sedan CVT and it is quite roomy (my whole family can fit in nicely) and the CVT isn't that bad.

The Aspire is good value for money but it does not come in manual or hatchback.

There is nothing to look out for with the lancers. Their quality build is good and it is a really reliable vehicle back by the best warranty around.

The biggest complaint by members is the thin paint and the amount of stone chips that damage the paint.

Lancers do suffer from a few rattles here and there, most notibly the glovebox and instrument cluster. This tends to only occur on very rough bitumen tho.

Also they suffer from a bit of tyre roar in the cabin, but again this depends on the roughness of the surface and tyres you are using.

For that money you could get a secondhand ralliart? Just saying :P

I'd also test drive other cars just to be sure... The more you know you got the best the more you will love the car.

And yeah, the biggest issue as an owner would have to be plastic rattles. You probably have a tough enough spine to not care about road noise if you like the lancer for its handling :D

Be sure to use the large amount of photos here to pick the colour you want. :) iIts a little easier to pic from real-life shots than showroom cars.

^ +1 :)

if you are looking to spend that amount of coin, go with the ralliart sportback - i've loved mine, power and practicality!

not to mention that the awd is a great safety bonus when driving in the wet ;)
we are fascinated by that which can destroy us...

Ofey, that link gave me a sedan - the title on the page says a sportsback, but the description is for a sedan :S

strange. The title is a bit off.

Much nicer as a sedan though.
