FUTURE LANCER

Postby sarusa » Wed Aug 09, 2017 10:06 am

Mitsubishi global boss confirmed lancer will not be executed and will continue on the Australian market.
However looks like future cars will be built in Taiwan.

Will we see this model

Oh wow. That looks like a Honda Civic or similar. Personally, I feel like it's losing too much of the Lancer 'factor' in that design.. Nonetheless, I guess they have to keep changing the look or people will say it's too similar to previous models

Glad to hear they will still be continuing in Aus. I'm happy with my CJ though

Im almost willing to place bets that all car manufacturers use the same design software to come up with ideas

i'm pretty sure that's been the confirmed thai build for a year or so, it came out when the cf lancer did, its true australia don't plan on removing it, and so they shouldn't, the lancers even to this day are becoming more road popular as time goes on which is great! shame about the american market thought. but yeah i'm pretty confident the cf lancer look is staying for while in aus, let's just hope they actually give it something more next year
We are all in it for the fun!

I agree it doesn't look much like the CJ that its based on but a) I like they have done more of an effort to change it compared to the CF and b) Lancers have changed of time, every truly new model has been different from the last. c) it keeps the Lancer name alive which IMHO is the most important thing. Its up there with Corolla, just imagine the outcry if Toyota dumped that name?

That all said the first thing I would do is paint the chrome. Either color code or black it out. I hate all the 'bling' found on the front of most new cars today.

Wouldn't think it would be economical to have two separate assembly lines, if all future lancers are to be built in Taiwan.

As I said. Its all "apparently" and speculation.

I guess we will find out in time.

It will probably be made at Nissan's Taiwan plant, and be based on the same platform as the Nissan Altima.
I might add a pic of my car once I style the exterior a bit :).

This model is being built in Taiwan now for china and looks like maybe USA and is on the current (here) model, Lancer platform.
However you could be right but if that happens, will more likely be the Pulsar platform.

The Pulsar was pulled from sale in this country after less than 3 years on the market.

I do hope this re-modeled CJ/CF does come here, maybe with some better sound proofing and other improvements expected in a 2017 car. Just a shame we no longer have the RA or EVO.

Hope they don't stray too far off the mark. Modernize yes but Keep it distinctly LANCER, love that car.

Perhaps direct injection, improved CVT, use existing platform with revised undercarriage for a more compliant, big car ride and improved handling. Up will go Market Share!!!!!!!!!

More sound proofing. Change from current tyres would be a major improvement here and yes up the price as needed

At least all the cars and SUVs will match now.

The ASX, Pajero and this Lancer all have a very similar front end lol.
