Visited SCA today and picked up 2x Castrol Magnatec 10w-40 for $22.50 each. They are currently advertised in the NSW SCA catalogue for $26.90 yet in-store they had a large ticket stating they were $22.50 each and would happily beat anyone who could do cheaper.

While standing there and trying to make up my mind I saw a lot fly off the shelves with people stocking up. I'm not sure if it's a "good" oil or not (given it is semi-synth and thicker at start-up than the recommended 5w-30) but various comments seemed to suggest it was suitable and probably what the dealership is putting in anyway. Yes, I was navigating through CCJ comments on my phone, in-store.

I only wanted to grab one and try it but at that price I figured it would be worthwhile getting two (supposed limit of 2 per customer as well).

They could also order in the Ryco pollen filter (RCA182P) for $29 but it was not eligible for the 'trade your old filter' $5 discount. This seems to be cheaper than what I found about 6 months ago where it was closer to $35. You might get lucky and find one in stock at your local SCA for $21 (excluding the freight fee) and can knock off another $5 if you have your filthy old filter handy.

Got a qoute of $650 for 45000km service with them supplying all the parts and fluids. Is this sounding a little steep?

It does sound abit steep but then again, if you can pre-provide the fluids, why not?

Was almost screwed over by Zupps Mitsubishi @ Mt Gravatt - was told that I didn't fall under the capped price servicing because I had passed the 12 months/15000km timeframe. Quoted $320 for a 15000km service (steep?...yeah) and $314 from another nearby dealership... (I think my area likes to screw me over)

Gave Mitsubishi a call and got info that I was still eligible as I was still under 15000km and under 18 months of purchase (they give a 6 month extra timeframe if you're under the service kilometers). Managed to fight my way back into capped price :D. Will still be providing my own oil anyhow...SCA has a 20% off sale in store on Saturday.

Just got my 75,000km service done at Portside Mitsubishi, Port Road, Adelaide. Paid $220 for the service. A few of the mitsi places i rang last week said they charge $220 to $230 for this service.
My only disappointment was that they didnt wash or vacume my car :(
The dude also told me that my next service 90,000km will cost me about $700 :(

Can anyone tell me when the in tank fuel filter needs to be done....? 90k? 105k? 120k?

The guys I'm going to for my 105k seem to think it needs to be done now, but log books and other car service lists I have found have not got it listed...

I also don't think a different mob did all that is required on the logbook for what is meant to be a large service at 90k (done a little while ago by non Mitsu $297)
So, I'm thinking I might ask these new guys to do some of the 90k service items too e.g coolant & brake fluid flushes etc... (got 110k on the clock now...)
Do my spark plugs at a workshop day up here in Qld....

The first mob also tried to tell me timing belt at 105k, but I'm since found out we have a timing chain, don't we...?

Hey guys, I had my car serviced at 45,000kms and the mechanic wrote on the windscreen sticker that I have to go back at 53,000kms - it seems really soon to be going in again. I would take it would just be for oil change?

Would I be ok to leave it until 60,000kms? The oil level seems fine and the colour seems fine.

It would seem your dealer thinks you have a Turbo.

For a NA, every 15,000km will be fine.
Especially if you judge your own oil to be clean.

Got my 45000 service last week, was $282, not too bad considering I don't think I have capped price servicing (the local dealer said I did tho?)

Thanks for that. I remember hearing that every 15,000 is fine enough. Spending $100 every 7,500 doesn't really seem worth it, especially if it doesn't need to be done haha.

Has anyone had their 90,000km service done?

If so how much and did they advise you if there was much of a gap in the valve clearences?

Hi Guys,

As i havnt found much information on it i thought id share my experience having the 60,000km service

I went to Sydney City Mitsubishi in Zetland (Sydney) to have my 09 VRX have its 4 year/60k service.

-took a little over 4 hours.
-no loan car.
-no car wash or clean.
-they did say my power steering fluid was getting a little 'cloudy' and will likely change it at my next service
Service men were friendly and informative, i asked them about getting a new key programmed and they said $130.
- I provided oil, which i forgot to tell them about, but they found and used to my advantage.

-Total cost $275
