2010 ES Lancer Clutch Question

Postby Jon05e » Sat Sep 28, 2019 9:10 pm

Hi all
Just got a quick question about my wifes 2010 es lancer 4b11 5 speed manual.
Were about to do the clutch at just over 200000kms, so shes done really good. Ill be fitting it myself and getting the flywheel machined. I have bought a genuine clutch kit with pressure plate and clutch plate, but im unsure if i need to replace the release bearing. (Concentric slave cylinder)
Ive noticed you can buy the kits with or without them. Are these recommended to replace? Or due to the 200000kms im at, should i replace it regardless? This release bearing to/not to do is slowly doing my head in as i like having all parts ready for a job.
The only problem i have with clutch is every once and a while and its hard to engage first to second, more so first thing in the morning.
Any help anyone could provide would be great.
Thanks heaps in advance
Jono

Yes the release bearing/slave cylinder should always be replaced

Thanks lancerdarryl. Would you think this would be the cause of 1st gear being hard to get out, or just generally due to kms on clutch?

More than likely .Fresh oil in the gearbox will make a difference too.

The OEM clutch and flywheel is crazy expensive.
I got NPC heavy duty clutch and lightened flywheel for about half the price of OEM.
Feather light feel on the clutch
Made in Brisbane , Australia

Just out of curiosity what was the OEM clutch and pressure plate worth?

Flywheel alone was almost $2000 from memory (OEM)
The clutch was about $1500 OEM

With prices like that I have no doubt even Ned Kelly would've been impressed

Yup , same with NPC gear. After seeing OEM prices, I didn't need any convincing to go NPC
Also if anyone is interested , NPC in Brisbane is agent for Excedy as well

Good stuff thanks heaps for your help. Did the gearbox oil about 3 months ago with quality nulon gearbox oil. Scored a genuine exedy clutch for $325 and protex slave cylinder for $285. Not too bad i think.

Bargain! Don’t forget to machine the flywheel. Excedy do a great clutch it’s the only brand we will use at work
