I'm on the list but what now?

How long will we have to wait for the parts?

Book it in and wait.....that's all you can do.

Yeah tried that Monday and they told me to go away, but it was the morning after we first found about the recall and they didn't have the info. So I'll go back tomorrow and try again. I'd like it sorted before going on a 10000km trip in a few months.

BTW on the news is the massive airbag recalls (again), only Lancers to worry about are 2003-2008, so the CH not CJ if you have one.

Booked in the car today, still waiting on the parts but they will inspect it next week and if it needs replacing they will do it later, if they don't have the parts.

That ^ sounds like a good compromise and decent customer service.

Yeah I think he said the batch of parts might take 4 weeks to arrive, so they might be expecting a few CJs to need the work.

That good, but did they do it because they knew it was on the recall list or another owner have it done?

From memory, this recall was an advisory when I took it in to have Recall ID 010086 done (Engine Accessory Drive Belt Inspection / Replacement). You might remember that recall from a couple of years ago. It was also one that mine had never had done. I ended up getting a new belt and three pulleys were replaced.

As part of yesterday's inspection, they also checked the part number of the installed part and found it to be the new one without the manufacturing defect. As I hadn't had any other work done, the dealership presumed that one of the replaced pulleys was likely the auto-tensioner.

I remember the other recall as it was right around the time I got my CJ, now I'm wondering if they did more to mine 3 years ago or just the belt.

Maybe not. I'm guessing my pulleys were subjected to several years more torture by the defective V-Belt.

I got the letter for the wife's 2012 CJ last week.
It sounds like it is just a visual inspection of the belt tensioner flange and a replacement only if cracks are found.

Went to look at the thing myself, thought I'd look it up in the workshop manual and damn, can't find my digital copy.

Anyone got a link to the manual, or a picture of where the tensioner is, or more importantly, which part develops the fatal crack? At one of the bolt holes, I presume?
