You don't even need the VIN, most dealers can run the rego to find it.

I can't believe some drivers are actively avoiding getting theirs replaced when it could save their life or that of someone they love.
This has been going on some 8 years, 2 years since many in AU found out about it and involves some 2.3 million cars in AU.

As I said earlier you just need your rego, the dealer can look up your VIN.

Either way given the scope of the airbag issue, and other recalls (most not serious) its advisable to do periodical checks. Also I believe while a new car is under warranty or in for a logbook service the dealer should by law (yes I know its not a law) run the VIN to see if there are any outstanding recall notices that can be done during the service. Ideally this check should be done when the car is booked in so any parts needed can be ordered and any fixes can be done the same day so the customer is not without their car for any longer than needed.

Just thought I'd add this link.

Its for the Takata airbag recalls, now I know most Lancers are not included and no CJs, but but some of the CH are so here it is.

Just launched you just need a rego number and the state.

Also send it to your friends and family who drive any car so they can check, it takes seconds and good piece of mind when buying the next used car.

Get that checked out, there was a relay recall for a headlight relay or something that could fail and cause all sorts of gremlins... Take it to the dealer explain problem and mention you know of a recall for earlier models.

Also you can go here and follow the directions: Mitsubishi Recalls
