Reputable/money worth respray in Brisbane

Postby iambrian » Tue Jul 15, 2014 1:15 pm

Hey Guys, i recently returned from a holiday in Melbourne to find my brother has scraped the rear bumper of my car against the mail box while reversing down. -.-

Anyone know any reputable places that's decently priced to get the rear bumper resprayed?

If its a small job try a mobile paint/dent restoration business...they will come to your house and do it and its so much more convenient...Sorry dont know any good ones on Brisbane..

Just spent the last couple of days running around getting quotes for the Colt (bonnet is nearly vertical, so lots of stone chips) - quote was to rub, fill & respray the bonnet (which is tiny), respray the front bar, blend the front guards & both 'A'-pliiars (more stone chips)...

Quotes varied from $425 for 'on-car' repair to just over $1000! - average was $600-700

I found the big panel beaters with the nice reception area cost double the guy who has a spray booth in the industrial unit 'round the corner - most good ones have a collection of photos they're happy to show and are happy to run through exactly what they will do for their money. You'll soon get an idea of who's good at their job and interested in what you have to say.

Shop around... :-)

That's not so bad.

Before you go and get quotes, go over the damaged area with a clean cotton cloth and plenty of thinners - a lot of the light stuff will disappear and the damage won't look so bad when you're going for the quote... rub like you were polishing - it just 'melts' the clear coat and fills the fine scratches in, but make sure it's clean first...

Shouldn't be too expensive, just put a day or half-day aside and get three or four quotes and go for the middle price... I went and got five!

:-D

I had insurance repair at Grand Prix as well, they're Grand Prix as in Grand Prix Mazda.

It was a tiny bumper scuff that someone gave me in a car park, I haven't thought about it since so they've obviously done a decent job. No panel damage, just paint - if I remember I'll have a dig to see how much it cost. Obviously I didn't pay so can't remember, I just hope when someone damages my car they pay dearly :)
