its a higher octane fuel so it contains more energy per litre. In car's with knock sensors the ECU can advance the timing and get better performance from the higher octane fuel. they are also supposed to be more refined and have better quality additives that keep your engine running cleaner.

But the main benefit of a high octane fuel is they have a higher flashpoint (temperature at which they self ignite) and that means high performance engines can run higher compression ratios which increases engine efficiency.

Can anyone confirm if the Lancer CJ VRX 2.4l does include knock sensors?

Thanks.

All of our cars are capable of running V-Power. The ECU will automatically adjust to the new higher octane fuel and give it better performance.

Thanks Ravine,

Do you have any details on how the non-turbo Lancers adjust to 98RON fuel? (e.g. if they include any knock sensors, or if not how they use other types of sensors to adjust to different fuel?)

As an aside, does the Lancer ECU adjust for changes in air inlet characteristis when you change air filter, for example, and if so over what length of time does it do this (i.e. what's the integration period)? :?:

It could take a few days, it could take a week.

Generally a few days. :)
