Of some concern

Postby Speedie » Thu Mar 12, 2009 3:26 pm

Saw this on Ebay

Item number: 180335290091

After a hit like that and air bags not deployed. Wonder what it would take to make them go off

A hit from the front would probably do it

Airbags are only designed to be deployed in certain conditions. A rear hit is not one of them.

Side airbags for side hits, front airbags for frontal hits.

The impact sensors are in each side (B Pillar) and one in each corner of the front.

The airbags would be useless if deployed in that crash situation. Airbags are actually quite dangerous if deployed when they are not required. Hence why they only go off in certain circumstances.

An equivalent size hit like that one in the front of the vehicle would definitely set off the front airbags.
