Today I have been and still am. Stuffing around with my dealership to work out whether they are going to fix the damage they caused to my car at service. I have to get a quote through their paintshop before they even decide what they will do
Pain in the backside and alot of heartbreak first scratch and it wasn't even my fault

Now you have an excuse for speeding.

"But officer, it's a Boeing 737! Look, it even has the plate to say so."

Decided to clean out my boot and check the spare, only to find this mess under the tire.
Image
Had the car almost a year and this is the first time I've taken the spare out, yuck!

Image
Now thats better after a vacuum and wash.

Image
Also noticed just how small the space-saver is for height over the 18" which is marginally smaller than the stock tires on the VRX. Never realized how much lower the car will sit on it, guess it's why they recommend putting the SS on the back even if you have a flat front tire.

And I checked the pressure in the spare, just 13.5 psi, its rated for 60 going by the markings on the tire... guess I'll be filling that up next week along with my fuel! Giver the build date of the tire (4308 - so around the time the car was built) and the fact it looks like its never been used my bet is it hasn't been checked in a long time. Also looking at the mess the wheel well was in I'm betting the dealer didn't even bother cleaning it out.

Yes I know I probably should have checked this out long ago, soon after buying the car.

Put some more air in the spare, it was down to 13psi but now got it back to 60, will check in a few weeks to make sure its keeping the pressure.

Is there a simple hose that can be screwed onto the tire valve on one end and a normal valve on the other end One end attached to the spare in the boot and the other end visible, available and usable to check air pressure without having to move or touch the spare or anything else?

If you can please let me know where one can be obtained.

I think I understand what you're talking about and I know some truck tires have a special extension but I don't think spares like this do. As soon as you attach anything to the valve it's gonna start letting air out.

A few reasons they are upside down is a) the bolt holding them in place is a lot shorter and b) you have a little space for the tool bag, although it will easily fit outside the wheel next to the jack.

I do know in my old CC coupe the spare is right way up so why the change in the CJ or is that just how all cars are now?

I'll be looking at changing mine when I do some work on the cars boot space, which I hope I can start in the next few weeks.
