hey guys, not CJ related but kinda struggling for info so need some opinions / experience

looking at buying a defected Galant from SA (im in NSW) as its 1/2 the price of a 'standard condition' version, but its rare sight as its in immaculate condition inside and out, white, and manual!

its been defected for battery clamp straight up not existing, and coilovers (he will include stock with sale)

problem is, he got sent to regency. on the car that wasnt defected was the external BOV, too low, and too loud. he cbf fixing it

thats not an issue, heaps of people are parting them out to stock engine parts are somewhat easy to come by.
since i live in NSW, i need to transfer it to my name in my state. ive read conflicting arguments

1) treat the car like a normal interstate transfer, get the blueslip done that says it complies, rego the car, easy done

2) some people say its illegal to sell a defected car if it is not for parts/track use, also that defects must be cleared by the owner when it was defected no matter what the state it is registered in.

3) let the cars rego get cancelled from the defects, buy it as "unregistered" then go through the NSW process of registering it

i know a fair few of you will say to stay clear, but if there is a cost effective way that keeps total of transfering it under $2000 im still up compared to the cars listed of the same caliber (This one is up for $4k, other galants in meh condition sell for $7-9k )

Option 3 is the way I would go.Buy it as an unregistered vehicle this should technically cancel out any defects.
Good luck with it,they are a pain to get parts for.

Darryl, you sir, are a legend, i even straight up asked the rms and they said that if i let the rego get cancelled before i buy it, the defects wont carry over but obviously it has to be roadworthy for the blue slip then register it as normal
