For anyone that doesn't have an OBDII adapter for their car and want one. Just came across this sweet deal.
https://www.nonda.co/products/smart-veh ... 8698734694

I don't have this specific brand etc. so don't really know much about it but a quick google search online showed up with some stock standard answers.
Basically the device is free you just need to pay for shipping which is USD $4.79 (AUD ~$7.25). Deal lasts for 2 more days.

Enjoy!

Sadly a lot of these el cheapo OBD2 adaptor don't work with the lancer.
Not only that they are slow as a wet week and no firmware update.
If you really want a OBD2 tool buy a decent unit to begin with

I use and highly recommend these guys
https://www.obdlink.com/

I have their green Bluetooth unit that connects to Android.
It is the fastest unit on the planet and can display data faster then your instrument cluster on your car can display it.
It has firmware update and comparable with all OBD2 software I have thrown at it and there is a few of them now includes and not limited to
Car scanner
Dash Commander
Torque
Virtual Dyno

You can also connect to it via Bluetooth on your laptop and run software from your laptop with it also.
Hope this helps

Sorry
You just lost that bet
When you buy the OBDlink link tool I mentioned you get the software free and it is called OBDLINK
This gives you a dashboard to.your car to customise what ever you want to log as well as clear error code.
There is a number of things it does.
They also have a version of it for the laptop and as a owner of the hardware you can get their software for free

Yeah Just a little, didn't look at the website too hard. There are some in app purchases but they don't seem to be required. The data being collected from the devices must have some good value for the company though. I'll stick with what i already have though as it's designed specifically for Mitsubishi.

So long as the adaptor does 500k baud then you have a fighting chance of it working
The el cheapo units can also communicate so badly on the data bus that it will cause an error in the ecu as well as soon as you if it in
This requires a decent OBD2 tool to be used to clear the errors of the previously used pure crapola one.
However
Once a decent one is in your tool kit , it can be used on a number of vehicles
