Went down early this morning to McGraths Liverpool.
THe guy at the service desk came out as it was before openning time to have a look... Showed him the drivers side vent... I found away to simulate the issue without driving the car. (Works for me, might not work for you)...
He played with the passenger vent himself and said it seems to have an issue with the teeth that grips the vents to open and close them.

Had a mechanic double check it all.. he then told me its not a common issue and will have to order the parts, luckily he had one in his Sydney warehouse and 1 in another dealerships warehouse...

I should have mine fixed tomorrow morning.

My non driving testing method.
Flick the vent down, not too hard.. just enough to force it to close.
All my vents besides the driver side closed... The drivers side closed then moved back to the centre position.

Close it with a small amount of pressure and release, my driver side again opened up to center position .. much like Steves picture.

I also spoke to the Dealer Principal and he assured me its not a common/ standard thing...

OK then. After extensive road testing (trip from Gloucester to Brisbane on all sorts of roads from the smoothest tar to the crappiest bone jarring dirt and potholey bits) I have worked out that.........................................da daaaa

mine doesn't do it.

2011 plated SX

(I did notice once that it wasn't where I put it by a little amount but then readjusted and it stayed there for the next 400kms and is still in the right place)

so i went back to nundah mitsu with slash`s post about his dealer fixing it for him, got a different guy and the manager was at the counter listening.

apparently on further enquires mitsu oz are aware of the problem and will replace any vents presented, bearing in mind that the replacement could be as bad or worse, lol.
how could it be worse?

i simply said that if the replacement is just as bad i`ll be getting a replacement for the replacement till i get a good one, good ones actually, both left and right dont pass the "flick test".

looks like the odds are a little more than 50% of the vents being good.

feel free to use this post if u want yours replaced and are getting greif.

I think mine are doing this, after reading the original post ive had them set down, but from memory i have to keep fixing them as they come back up again..

I have an 08 VR fyi. If it keeps happening ill get Mitsu to replace it come next service (if its free that is).
