All CJ Lancer models?

Postby woollzz » Fri Jul 12, 2013 5:31 pm

I see so many different types of lancers around everywhere, but have know clue what they all mean, and what "order" are they in.

I know it starts with the ES model and ends with the VRX, RA, and EVO.

But what about ones in the middle? SX LX activ, olympic, VR, etc, whats the order of all the models? (as in price and basic specs)??

Some of the models were only available in certain years.
The models are pretty much as mark said.
Base is the ES.
Then there's the LX, RX, SX and Activ, which are all the same just came out in different years. Eg: in 2008 they did the RX. In 2009 they changed it to LX and so forth. These models are just a fancy ES. So the same as an es but came with 16inch rims instead of hubcaps, had a spoiler, blue tooth and maybe a few other small goodies. They were made as a limited edition but turned out to be very popular. The current one in this range is the Sports model with the RA front.
Then there's the VR
Then the VRX
Then back in 2008 they released a VRX Olympic edition.
Then the Aspire
Then Ralliart
Then the evos GSR and MR.

There was at one stage also a platinum edition. I think that was in the same range as the SX/Activ/etc...
I think that's all of them.
Prices will vary from $19,000 up to $70,000

Now days it gets confusing at times telling the difference between some models as a lot of people are modding their lancers and also some Mitsubishi dealers add a few extra mods onto their more base models to make them easier to sell.

Also the newer versions of each model will generally have more specs then an older version. Eg: I have an 2008 es which only came with 3 air bags. In 2009 or 2010 they upped that to 6 or 7 airbags as standard. And now the 2012/13 es has reverse sensors and a camera.

Theres also a Lancer Sport, which is basically an ES with VRX spoiler, side skirts and an RA front grill.

LX, RX, SX, Platinum etc are just dressed up ES models as shamoo pointed out - Mitsubishi calls them SAMs - Special Action Models.

In Australia there is no model called a GSR, the base Evo is just called an Evolution, and there is the Evolution MR which gets you TCSST as standard, different wheels/brakes/suspension and leather and luxuries. But people on here tend to call the base Evo a 'GSR' as this is a model in overseas markets that is similar.

When it comes down to it, even the same nameplate changes spec every year, so there's effectively just the 2L-of-the-moment, VRX, Aspire, Ralliart, Evo and Evo MR.

Also, do note that the Platinum Edition had two stints. The first one was pretty much a VR with MMCS and more chrome, and the second was based on the ES, with alloys and spoiler, among other additional features.

The Evo also had an RS trim, basically a white, bare-bones model strictly for racing (not registrable).

Despite all those variants, they still can't give the Ralliart a proper designation.

Also the sportsback was introduced in Oct 2008.
And pure 2009 the vrx came in either 2lt or 2.4lt. It was during 2009 they dropped the 2lt n only did the 2.4.
