Firstly welcome,

Depending on your insurance policy, unless you have your coil overs included in your insurance policy they won't pay you for them unless they are aware of them and you have added them.

Secondly, coil overs aren't illegal, it's the height setting which is deemed legal or not.

And unless your crash was caused by your coil overs (which they'd have to fall out or something which made you crash) it is extremely hard for them to pin them on your coil overs.

Lastly, you'll have more trouble with warranty then insurance companies lol

Hope this help.

eh? The factory suspension is coilover, why would aftermarket be illegal?

If you ring up your insurer and tell them you have modified the suspension then you have nothing to worry about.

Otherwise if you have an accident, it is possible for them to deny a claim even if it is totally irrelevant.

So... why don't you fix your car so that it is roadworthy?

Of course you aren't insured if your car is illegally modified, have some common sense. It doesn't matter who you're insured with, what you've told them or anything else frankly.

It depends on your insurer, read your terms and conditions.

And if your car is unroadworthy and they notice then yes, they might try and get out of paying, which is fair enough

Just raise it to minimum legal height (10cm). Thats plenty low anyway.
