Bigger is better though :P

I've got the BC V1's myself.
Cost me $1600 fitted - few reasons; cost to have them trucked in from sydney, had to take my sub box out to fit them (extra labour)

Difference between the V1 and the BR (gold) is the diameter of the damper which is slightly bigger on the Gold.

Mine are set just under half way, ride is nice just have to be careful on speed bumps. I didn't want them set too hard to allow for less then perfect roads.

Canberra has a LOT of roundabouts, that's where I tend to notice the coilovers.

i havent yet purchased my coilovers, but you should also have a look into yellowspeed, they seem about the same price as BC (around 1300, without install) and they seem to be quite good. some guys i talked to (not lancer drivers) said that when they had issues with their BC's (just unlucky, these things happen) that BC didn't want to hear from them..

Yellowspeed and BC from what I hear are about on the same level. here's whats in the yellowspeed ones:

Here's another way of looking at it.

From what historical stories I've heard, BC has single handedly been responsible for bringing down the price of coilovers.

Before BC released their own range of coilovers they were simply an OEM manufacturer, producing for Pedders amongst others.

So uptake wise, for value, alot of people have gone for BCs.
Some NOT even realising their coils made which carry other brand names on them are actually also out of the same factory.

BC's market penetration is very high, so for every 20 satisfied customers, there will be one failure. Even then it may be hard to attribute the failure.

But just to err on the side of caution, none of the people who have gone BCs on this forum have had problems. That's a pretty good endorsement in my book.

Valid points, I wasn't slamming BC or anything by the way, just throwing in conjecture that I've found in my researching for consideration's sake, but yeah you're right, BC are a reputable name for a reason, they wouldnt be there if they were selling dodgy quality products. And from everything I've heard, the Yellowspeed are almost exactly the same as the BC's anyway haha. So it's really neither here nor there I suppose.

Yellowspeed and BC are both from Taiwan.
So really 2 peas in a pod.

But if you look at the size of the operation, BC is significantly larger.

thanks sam! those are the exact uses I'm looking at, "spirited" road usage and potentially track days later on.
much appreciated :)
it'll be a fair way down the track though, I just ordered super circuit headers :D

Idk if you all do but I have extension things on my rears so the damper adjusters are in my boot. I had some fun messing around with the settings but decided hard was better than violently bouncy :P
Does having them set harder shorten their life though?

I'll just add a little note for those of you doing your research on coilovers in general.

Get whoever does your wheel alignment to give you a print out. That way, if you have issues down the line and have to take it else where you have a record.

Even something as simple as switching tire brand/model can really change the feel of your car. :) (More so for those of you with wider wheels.)

never heard of yellowspeed.

i am thinking of either going a 18s with a good tyre on it, or just replace the stock tyres with top of the line yokoz or toyos or something when i get the coilovers.

I run 18x8 ET38 rims and just got a set of 4 Bridgestone RE050A's in 225/40/R18 :)

Factory fit on HSV's and WRX's apparently.

Nice and quiet for a performance tire but not cheap.
