3 weeks old car crash

Postby dtrial » Sat Jul 31, 2010 1:35 am

Hi guys,
I thought I'd share the pain I had last friday.
I was going to the mechanics last friday 23/7/10 to get my lip spoiler and vinyls put on, when this old lady turn my best day to the worst.
Here's a few image of what happened:

So here's the story:
I was stopping at an intersection when I noticed that there was another car on the opposite side of the road.
She was signalling to turn right but she was looking to her left the time I looked at her.
So I thought that it was my go because I was heading straight.
I went ahead and BAM.

and also the incident happened just about 1km away from the mechanics.

That's gotta suck. Sorry to hear and see that. :( :(

So sounds like the old lady was in the wrong? With no idea of signage at the intersection, if you were going straight ahead and she was turning right to cut across your path, then she should be giving way.

Hopefully insurance will settle it, but sucks when you have something shiny and new broken like that. Hope it works out.

Love how our cars hold up :D

Sounds like it'll all work out, and looks non-lethal to your baby, thats good to hear and see :D

Definitely sounds like she was in the wrong, but its just one of those things that happens sometimes.

Best of luck man :)

Edit: We haven't met you on a cruise yet have we? It'd be good if we can when shes fixed up :D

That doesn't look like a cheap fix. No airbag trigger in either car (by the looks) but looking at the fold in the front fender and headlight position there'd be some damage to the frame behind it.

Body shop could tell you for sure.

unless its hit the actual solid chassic frame(to hit that would have to be pretty bad accident, or a very unlucky impact area) id say it has just hit the part that there to be hit the impactbar that goes over the front of the car, id say it will have a cost of around 2-3grand. (mainly parts) and the bonnet, is quite expensive.

Yeah the insurance company told me that I should be paying no fees to get her repaired as it wasnt my fault that this happened.
The front frame (just around the headlight) was damaged pretty bad, I remembered some paint was peeling off when I took another look at it.
other damages I could recall are headlight smashed, bumper broken and slightly bent bonnet.
How long do you guys think this would take to repair?

Yeap dire, I'll try my best to make it to the next cruise :)

Thanks for the comment guys. :)

She's going to Frank Newman Smash Repair In Willetton btw (western australia). Anyone have ever heard of it?

Lets leave the bagging older people yeah? :P

Best of luck again Rendy. Try and get a ralliart bumper and bonnet if you can :P

Shouldn't take too long if the insurance is smooth.

Lucky your airbags didn't go off. I think our cars are quite intelligent when judging impact severity...

Not interested in being a passenger for the cruise on the 6th Rendy? :P

Is that wharf street/railway parade near carousel where the accident was?
