Can't remember seeing any on the Sunshine Coast, lucky to get 98 or E10 at some servos.

I've just had a look at the NSW United list there is not many more outlets here either.Just looking at the locations if you lived in Sydney and wanted to drive to Brisbane you'd be carrying jerry cans with you to get there.Another reason why it isn't worth the effort to convert to E85.

Set up right with a flex sensor you can run 98 where you can't get E85.

I have no idea of the costs to do that but if you've got an EVO X then you probably have the money to do the work.

Apparently overseas E15 is being heavily looked in to. E15 would probably be alright if they used 98 as a base fuel. Butanol (can be made either from oil or fermentation) is apparently a much better fuel to use in the car, almost as energy dense as petrol, around 96 octane, burns clean, and can run at much higher percentage in fuel. You could run a normal car that supports E10 on 98+E15+B40 (butanol), and the octane would still be higher than the base 98. Apparently you can also run E85 cars conceivably on E85+B15+additives, the additives for lubrication etc that can be made from organic sources.

E85 in itself, not really practical I feel. Even non-E10 cars could use the mix I said above, as long as any non-E10 compatible fuel lines etc are replaced. Due to the nature of the mix fuel flow rate apparently wouldn't be much of an issue. Even then though, you could have the 98+E15+B40 as standard fuel, 98 or whatever as a legacy fuel, and E85+B15 as an extra fuel.

Lots of different compatible options they can use, but won't. It's not only a policy thing, it's fighting the oil companies, manufacturers of cars are reluctant to support any change, and consumers will probably reject it.
I might add a pic of my car once I style the exterior a bit :).

I was looking to set up a flex sensor, but i've been told we can't put it in our cars, only thing what we can do is to run dual map :(

As I said I know nothing about using the flex sensor in the CJ but I wouldn't rule it out, would take a new ECU to control every thing but I'm sure someone has tried it. Maybe it just doesn't work without a lot of changes to the electronics. I mean if the MCM guys can get it working on an original Mini with a basic design that is some 40 years old I'm sure a much more modern CJ could be converted.

Is not impossible, but will require a good amount of $$$$ and time to convert.
Anyway back to the topic guys! :)

So just wondering if you can find E85 what should we be paying compared to Regular ULP?

HO! Hum! Just stick to 91 to 98ron, runs well, car made for it , no worries with availability and more than enough performance for all legal limits plus tested and tried longevity. No Surprises.

Will be rolling to flex early next year myself. Performance gains are there to be had. As long as it is tuned spot on, you wont have a problem.
