The weather's warm, the birds are swooping, and the wasps are building nests in the walls. That means it's time to get the hell away from the house and spend a day at the place our drinking water comes from - Lake Wivenhoe!
With a route that takes us up through Mt Glorious and down to Cormorant Bay, everyone is sure to have an enjoyable time working their upper body muscles and checking to see if their brakes work. Once we've all arrived and set up in the park, it'll be time for a good feed!
QMD will be providing a barbecue lunch and drinks for the day. All we ask in return is that people bring some cash to pitch in for what they've grabbed. If you have certain dietary requirements (gluten free, allergies, no food from particular animals/plants), please let us know so that we can arrange an alternative. There's nothing worse than coming out for lunch and not being able to eat while everyone else is stuffing their faces.
Things you will need to bring:
- Current and valid drivers license (make sure it's valid for the car you're driving)
- UHF radio (channel 17)
- Some cash for food/drinks
- A chair or picnic blanket
- A full tank of fuel
If you have any RC cars or neat things you'd like to bring along, bring them! Some of QMD's members are into all kinds of cool stuff, so why not join them!
Everyone is welcome to come along, regardless of what you drive. Bring along some friends and make some new ones as well!
*** Be mindful that the chosen route has some very tight corners on both the uphill and downhill sections. If you don't feel comfortable driving along these kinds of roads, QMD encourages you to ride along with someone who is (some of us are happy to take passengers), or take it nice and easy and stick to the back of the group. Our cruises are not races and we'd like to remind anyone thinking about coming along that while we're okay with you having fun, we don't want you to end up having your pride and joy winched out of an embankment. Drive to you and your car's ability - not the ability of those in front of you.
