Battery question? ????

Hi does the battery have any other applications other than the obvious start up and normal battery applications my question is my battery is on its way out but if car has sat all day and when you try to start it struggles to fire up when it starts it coughs and farts around and slowly cones up to idle speed has any one one else had this problem my car has the ecutek tune so I am wondering if the battery have other applications with in the ecu or injector cycles I am not sure if this is a silly question or not????? cars are far more complex these days Thanks Gazza :?: :?:

id say its a process of elimination.
try get another battery and crank it over.
if its still doing it then u know its not battery related.
