2009 RA BOV -> Evo x BOV

Postby Maxibon » Wed Aug 05, 2015 3:30 pm

Hi All,

I'm sure its been asked and yes I have tried searching but I am chasing a straight forward answer.

basically I'm looking at upgrading my stock BOV to a EVO x MR BOV can anyone please confirm if this will have any sort of flutter / Dose on my otherwise standard 2009 RA.

otherwise what are some reasonably priced recirculating BOVs that will dose / flutter? doesn't need to be crazy loud be I do like the dosing sound.

Thank you.
Thanks.

Maxibon.

Thanks mate.

where did you get the SRI from? I assume that means you have done a tune also?
Thanks.

the evo bov replaces the ra bov without any difference to sound or flutter.
the only difference is the ra bov has a plastic case and the evo bov a metal one so its a straight swap :)

Ahh right well glad I asked the question then. What would be the best option to get the dose on my RA? I have been considering a CAI but haven't found a suitable reasonably priced system so at this stage I'm just going to chuck a K&N panel filter in
Thanks.

a K&N drop in is all u need, the stock CAI is more than adequate, u dont get any extra power with an upgraded CAI unless your pulling big KW`s with an upgraded turbo and a tune, maybe 300 kwatw.

I wouldn't imagine the intake noise would be any louder with the panel filter either correct?
would i have to go CAI if i wanted the better sounding intake noise?
Thanks.

Yes, its the intake that will give you what you are after.
With an after market intake, you will be able to hear the stock bov also.

Most people do it purely for the noise really, unless as mentioned above, you are running big KWs. But the noise is to die for.

Yea the noise is exactly what I am after at this stage really.

any suggestions on what intake I should look at for the RA for the best noise?
Thanks.

Last time i had to make the decision, I did some research and it appeared that ARC air box is one of the top ones performance/noise wise. It does also come at a premium at around $700.

On top of this, the car needs to be tuned hence I'd budget extra on top of the intake.

As mine doesn't run big KWs, and I was purely after the noise, I went with an HKS replica for less than $200, but as you would expect, fitment was an issue.
Fortunately, my tuner, Sam (Boostin' juice) helped me out in making it fit before he worked his magic on it. So if you are not local to Sydney and want someone to tune it for it, you may consider an E-tune? You can speak to him directly and get some advice.

But other than the fitment issue, it gives the noise I was after so yeh.

Where abouts did you get the HKS from? I'm assuming through the guy that did your tune? there is a place here in Adelaide that specialize in Mitsubishi etc so I will most likely get them to do the tune and fit the CAI if it need modifying.

If I fit a CAI + 3 port then get a tune and decide later down the track to get an exhaust system would I need to re tune?
Thanks.

The EvoX metal diversion valve ( AKA the BOV) is designed to have the right release characteristic and also to limit peak boost.
It will bleed pressure if boost tries to raise above 28psi. So it is a damn good safety feature and for most of us with a Ralliart or any Evo is will be the best choice.

What did it cost you to buy one of these as that link is American also does anyone sell them here in AUS? I have looked at a few different intake options etc. but haven't come across this one in Aus. also did you need to retune when you fitted the AEM intake?

Also do you get any extra intake noise running the AEM?

So basically if I was to run the Evo X BOV with the AEM intake that Sleeper has mentioned above I should get some sort of dose?
Thanks.
