Hyundai 2.0T: Crate motor ( New Sonata motor)

Postby BeHaV3 » Sat Feb 14, 2015 12:40 pm

Quick general question. Would a Hyundai motor be an easy fit to a Lancer. same family of motor, similar RA size turbo, connects to a 6 speed auto in Sonata. Available in the USA as a crate motor.

thoughts?

The majority of swaps can be done the question you ask your self is how much time and money do you have?

Each manufacturer can build a slightly different engine, the core could be the same but on the safe side you need to check

clearances to all individual components, mounts, steering, transmission tunnel, also the precise orientation of the current engine vs new engine is it on a angle, etc
Are you willing to relocate certain components\wiring if required?

often than not you will need to fabricate things to get it to fit.

Not to mention custom ECU and wiring.

better of getting a crate 4B11T from AMS or another company.
there are some good threads on EVOX forums on this.

Then when you increase HP you have to add more air and fuel. so fuel lines & pumps and injectors have to be upgraded eventually.
Then with all that extra power you need to upgrade your brakes.
Then you have engine cooling performance the list goes on
