CJ Pricing Guide

This is going to be a sticky with the best known prices for CJ Lancers all over Australia. Please contribute your prices and please don't lie about it. Please note that it's not about who got the best deal but it's to help our newest members who are buying to join us. It might even help with 2nd hand pricing. Please follow the format below in your reports:

State:
Model:
Extras Offered:
Price (Drive Away):
Member:
Date:

As you will notice, I did not include a field for dealer name. This is INTENTIONAL as this isn't an advertising post for any dealer.
Furthermore, please avoid posting of prices for Ex-Demo, 2nd hand buys and those with trade-in offers as these will probably be a one off price. If you want to share the prices you got, you can find a thread for it here.
So BRAND NEW cars only.

Members wishing to follow up on the price list here will be able to contact the member reporting the price via the PM function. Following your posts, I will update this first post with your reports.

Very useful thread, great idea imo. I should be contributing to the list soon :)

Just a suggestion, maybe also post the build date of the car?

Extras Offered: Sunroof, Rockford Fosgate, MMCS, Door plates/sills, Floor mats
Price (Drive Away): AUD 33,150

Build date: 08 - unsure of month yet.

Drive away price is slightly inaccurate due to trade in (less discounting on car, more value put towards trade in. Worked out to be around 32,000 drive away but they wanted to keep the price of buying the car higher for their sales figures)

Most of the time, the purchase date should reflect the build date of the car already but point it well taken... . Will adjust.

Probably better off having build date and purchase date fields? This will effect pricing quite a bit.

The other thing I've found out through my dealership is that prices are going to be quite high from now on and it's not as much of a buyer's market as some would like to believe. You might be surprised thinking that they have to shift cars still to survive but that's not the way to think about it.

Here's the way it looks from a dealership end. If you ordered an ES today, you'd probably get one in May or June of this year since MMA is now cutting imports into the country due to projected poorer sales and falling A$. For them there's too much risk to leave cars sitting in the car lots. They're already running short of VRs as we speak.

Our dollar has fallen quite dramatically and A$25K in Yen doesn't go very far. The dealership, regardless of the dollar value, still has to make a profit else no point bringing cars to the showroom or service lots and leaving it there.

You might insist on getting a great deal but also bear in mind that the dealer will not sell and lose money at the same time. No point doing so for them. You'll get a couple of deals here and there but not everyone can get a good deal. If every dealer only made a small cut or broke even on each sale, his dealership would soon fold.

Until investor confidence returns and people are willing to spend, we won't get out of the current financial situation.
