So I had mine booked in for late Jan, went in to be told they're out of parts till late Feb. Called a couple of dealerships today, and it seems like they're still out of parts. None expected to come in till April. :x

I suggest you contact Mitsubishi Motors Australia and quote your VIN & Rego numbers:

http://www.mitsubishi-motors.com.au/customer-assistance/contact-us

You should have received the letter if they had a current address for you. If you aren't the original owner or you are and have moved and not given them a new address, that could be the reason.

Any lancer owner should just need their VIN, and a dealer will fix it under the recall, free-of charge.

I never changed my address with the original purchase dealer, so didn't get a letter... Service was shite anyway....

Called local Mitsu before Christmas, and booked in for mid-later Jan.

Went in - Got one bit done, but they didn't have the Tensioner part, so they would order it in and contact us to bring it back....

That day is booked now for tomorrow - so we'll see what happens.

Scary note - Wife has reported the car loosing power steering and shutting off completely on her... It's done it twice to her in the past week or so. Recall letter says this could be a symptom/effect of the defect....

Fortunately all at slow speeds - Scary stuff if it was at 100km/h down the Hwy.

It absolutely does not matter whether or not you have the letter. I'm the 3rd owner of my car, I bought it like a month ago, wayyyy after the recall letter.

I called Mits dealer, told them my Rego (not even VIN!) and they booked my appointment.

Any official Mits dealer refusing to perform this work should be reported to Mits head office.

They have no reason to refuse to do the work, unless it's already been done according to the VIN records.

As others have said. If in doubt just call your local dealer, quote the VIN or rego and they will know if the work has been done or not.

Its FREE and with only cost you a few hours without the car.

Same here. I bought my car a couple of months ago and had no idea about the recall until I saw it here.

Exactly the same as Sean - I told them the rego and it's now booked in to have the belt swapped over and the pulleys examined.

Contacted Mitsu using the above link. We'll see what they say.. I have a 2008 Lancer myself. Second owner.

I'm almost at my major service so could potentially save me a pretty penny (94000 currently).

90k is the major service.

Not sure if it will save much, do they replace the drive belts at that service?

Shouldn't matter, but where are you?

I got my reply from Mitsu, they said just go to my dealership or nearest Mitsu service agent, and provided the location of it for me as well.

I contacted my Dealership and booked my normal service + told them about this, and they said they've got heaps on order and my names been put down now to reserve one. If it comes in time for my service (28/3) they'll fix it up then, if not I'll just have to go back.

Does this apply to the 2.4lt 2011 Lancer VRX? Or just the regular 2.0 models?

Edit: My VIN matches those listed in the recall notice, but I called Mitsubuishi Customer Centre and they advise it's not. She says probably because VRX Lancers aren't listed in the recall...

Anyone confirm this?

Check the list of VIN numbers. I think it's in the very first post of this thread.

If your car's VIN is not within the listed ranges, sweet. If not, get on the phone to your local Mitsu dealer.

I had mine in last Tuesday to get looked at, and it needs the pulley replacing. Current ETA is 3-4 weeks from now.

Booked mine into Knox for a week Monday

Simon - call up Berwick or Knox Mits and ask them rather than the customer center
