Warranty and Insurance???

Postby Dejan » Mon Jun 15, 2009 1:49 pm

Hey guys,

Just a quick one here, those of you who have modded their Lancers in anyway, did you report all your detail mods to the insurance company you are with?? Were they happy to continue ensure your car without bumping up your premium or something??? Especially performance mods like suspension and exhaust work??

Also, how did you go with your Mitsu warranty?? Those of you that changed your rims and lights and exhaust for example, how does that affect your warranty??

I'm weeks away from getting my performance mods done and now i'm just gathering infos arond making sure I know what I'll get myself into.

Lastly, any done up specialist here care to give me a tip or two regarding mods suggestions?? I've got a max 5 grand here to play around on my Ralliart, what woudl you guys do with it to maximise handling and straightline??

Cheers guys,

Dejan

AAMI have both my suspension and exhaust listed, did not affect premium in anyway.

Handling: either decent shock + spring combo or coilovers. Bigger/thicker sway bars. Strut braces.

Speed. Give MRT a call as you're in Sydney.

Replacing the airfilter in the evo is meant to be worth about 8-9bhp as its fairly restrictive. Same as the rear muffler (it's a requirement on most of TMR's packages) so you can probably look at them to begin with as you'll net some decent gains here, not as much as the evo but still worthwhile for the money spent. Again, MRT or anywhere else that specialise in Mitsu's will be able to give you options and pro's/con's as they deal with it on a daily basis.

Remember you can have two of the following: Fast, Cheap, Reliable.

Pick two and only two.

Warranty, depends what you change and whether you can return it to stock to take back to Mitsubishi without them knowing you have changed something if anything goes wrong.

Cool,

Thanks for the prompt feedback Davee.

Btw, what did you mean take only TWO out of the three?? What if I want both, CHEAP and RELIABLE and FAST, theres no way that all 3 could be compromised?? Why's that?

Cheap sacrifices reliability
Fast sacrifices reliability
Reliability sacrifices cheap

Hence you can only pick two. It's a wonderful world we live in. :)

Your budget you should be able to fit all 3 in there - but it wont be "fast". You may only get to "fa", maybe "fas" if you're lucky :)
