Let me tell you from personal experience I can vouch for AAMI, I wrote off my first car a 2007 Astra AH hatchback. Id only had my license less than a year. I got a full payout within four days of the crash and no premium rise as it was declared as a not at fault accident.

I was paying 7** for the lancer (07 VRX) including windscreen, 12 day car hire ect ect. What surprised me was when I went to insure the Clio sport... Its a seriously quick car (Im talking ralliart quick here) and it was only $5 a month more than the lancer was! And at that Ive also added my dad to the policy and doubled the agreed value of the car!

I am paying $650 with Bingle.com.au (AAMI's el cheapo company). Not bad considering my postcode!

I'm with RACQ and its $850 (rounded) , that is with the higher excess. So in the event of needing to claim $600 excess + $400 (21 age excess) = $1000 so not to bad for a person under 25. I suppose if my car had a bigger engine that would jump astronomically.

Just paid my insurance for my new SX, $431 full comprehensive with RACQ, helps to have a family member who works there as they are very generous with discounts. Had been with Wesfarmers insurance for all my other cars since 2001 but this time they wanted $800+!

Just applied for comprehensive insurance with the NRMA. About $1500 for me this year, but the value of the car has gone down and my rating has improved as well. I think that's a saving of $150 on last year.

Was with Justcar, but they have very similar costs now and NRMA seems more trustworthy.

I pay $130 or so a month for comprrehensive with JustCar with a $850 excess. Being under 25 & having your own car is a pain in the ass when it comes to insurance.

I'm under 25 as well. Not in the best suburb either, so that hits the premium.
