I've been flashed driving hers with projectors never been flashed in my car

you will find that the 08 corrola i belive it may just be halogen projectors.

as projectors, give alot better light form, then a reflector.

they dont have to be HID, to be projector housings.

Quote from XenonOz.com

"Are these XENON HID light systems street legal?

Suitable for off road use applications only. Not ADR compliant or legal for road use on low beam. May be used in all auxiliary lighting or high beam."

You're Right Jamie, my previous ride was a '07 Corolla Levin ZR, Definitely had HID's not Halogen and were self leveling, Mind you the HID's on the Lancer are MUCH better

How come these Levins don't have the washers if they are factory HID? I have checked Resbook and it doesn't say that the Corolla Levin is HID - if they were it would say in the standard equipment "Headlamps - High Intensity Discharge". All it says is that the headlamps have electric level adjustment. I don't want to start a cat fight, but I have never seen a Corolla with HID - projectors yes (even the Yaris has them), but HID no.

Which would explain why the Lancer Aspire lights are better as they are actually HID and have the washers in the bumper....

If they are for the American market (Item location Los Angeles, United States, ie likely) you'll find the cut off is on the wrong side so instead of lighting up the left hand side shoulder you'll be lighting up oncoming traffic.

Not to mention they look like standard reflectors in all of those photos.

Just a thought. If a component is not ADR compliant it is illegal for a car manufacturer to fit it to a vehicle as the vehicle would then be in breach of compliance. All road registrable vehicles sold in Australia must have an ADR compliance plate unless they are grey imports.

Driving a vehicle with a non ADR compliant component is not illegal it makes the car unroadworthy. If discovered by Police or RTA this results in the issue of a defect notice.

The defect must be then be rectified within a set period of time or not driven. I believe that a car driven after the expiration of a defect notice is classified as unregistered. The offence would then be driving an unregistered vehicle.

And rather than enter into a flame war over my understanding i spent five years as Test Laboratory Manager for an OEM component manufacturer testing ADR and reliability compliance of Safety components.

10 years working as a senior manager for one of the big three including 5 years as Production System Manager for Asia Pacific and Africa with responsibility for 12 plants in 7 countries.

I am not talking from what i have read on the internet but 15 years of real automotive front line manufacturing experience

Please don't use fact to back up an argument. Hearsay and speculation are what keeps the cogs around here well lubricated and moving.
