2015 Side Mirror Markers fit on older model?

Postby byzon3 » Wed Sep 09, 2015 8:28 pm

Hi guys,

Looking to see if anyone has already done this

Have a MY11 and wanting to purchase MY15 Side Mirror Markers that now have the indicator on them?

I have been quoted $800 for the pair for full units, wanting to know if this is a simple connection or not?

I have asked 2 dealers however they don't know there a** from their t****

If there's too much mucking around I wouldn't bother. However I was thinking I already have power mirrors so that half the battle just concerned with how the blinkers would get connected up?

Thanks for your help in advance

I have 2015 mirrors on my 2009 VRX, are you replacing the whole mirrors, the mirrors I got were LHD I got them from China and cost me around $350 delivered, maybe dearer now our $ in down, I was lucky to get the correct colour, I did have to mod them for RHD but this ended up being much easier than I expected. I was lucky enough to have the old xfactor mirrors so only had to mod the wiring slightly to make them work, I think if you get the mirrors the wiring will be very close, the 2015 mirrors have 7 wires you will need to see how many you have, but I think you will just need to add a wire for the indicators.

I was wondering the same, but what about them folding either with a new switch or automatically when you lock the car.

I know from past experience putting electric windows and mirrors in my CC Coupe the hardest part was getting the wiring into the doors. So how hard is it to get extra wires through the rubber thing that runs from the door to the body or are there extra unused wires in some models?

FYI I have a MY09 VRX if that makes a difference.

I would so love the mirrors to fold when locking the car, indicators would also be a nice touch. And on that does it mean you can delete the fender ones and get the things off a MY15 Lancer to fill the holes?

Sorry if i hijacked this thread.

The answer is yes you can install the MY14 sports turn indicator side mirrors. I have a friend that has a VRX and he installed the new mirrors to his lancer. And worked with out a problem. He got a local Mitsubishi dealership to install them at first he just got the genuine indicator mirror cover but would not work the only way is to buy a new set of the MY14 mirrors. And mitshubishi dealer ship installed them with out a problem. And also for the older model lancer with the inicator on the side finder. He got the MY14 new side finder vent were the indicator was ariganaly. And it looks like a new 2015 model lancer. I'm planning to do the same with mine in a month or to. Hope this info helps.

When I looked closely, the MY14 mirrors with the indicators have a different shape compared to the older ones, so I doubt that it's a simple swap of covers and wiring the lights.

So the wiring is all in place or an easy mod?

Also do they fold?
My 09 VRX doesn't have a folding switch on the mirror adjustment, guess I'd need one to manually fold them?

I know buying new 2014 mirrors from Mitsy is not gonna be a cheap upgrade but well worth it if you can find some at the wreckers from an unlucky 2014 owner.

Installing should be easy if there is no rewiring to do, even if you need to replace the switch it shouldn't take more than an hour and a few basic tools.

I'm now tempted to ask my dealer about it and see just how much the factory new ones cost.

Went to my local Mitsy dealer and asked them, but they can't comment if it would work and the guy at the parts counter probably didn't know and without a valid VIN from a new CJ I can't even check the price of the mirrors.

As now all dealers ask for VIN - I just go online for new car sales and pull VIN numbers from there :)

I was quoted $800 for the pair at Pennant Hills which is handy but dam.... that Service Manager or what ever he is(main guy when you drop your car in for service who does the paperwork) an absolute PIA and sometimes wants to make me buy another brand of car so I don't have to deal with him

Buy a new car when the first service comes up... might be easier to just go to the next closest dealer.

Got an app on my phone so I can take any QLD rego and find the VIN, comes in handy for things like this.

$800 is a bit pricey, rather put that towards a new HU or EVO rear. Might wait and see if any come up at the wreckers. Once we can confirm 100% that it's basically a plug in and play upgrade, not wires to cut or add and just the mirrors and switch to change.

If your car has floding mirrors now it should just be plug and play, when I put them in my 2009 VRX the plugs were the same, I just had to wire in the folding to the mirrors as mine didn't come with folding mirrors.

and if anyone needs a folding switch I have a spare I got with my mirrors but I already had one.

I got my mirrors from rainbowpen I paid USD 253 delivered around AU $350
only problem they are LHD but were a simple mod to fix to RHD

as far as I can tell YES, they are very well made and I did compare them to a genuine set before I got them and I can't tell the difference, but as I said it does require a Mod to make them RHD but I can give you a heads up on that.
