Got here to late and missed the info.

Anyway saw these replacement headlights with built in DRLs on eBay and sent them a message, apparently the 'DRLs' on these are wired to the Parkers, so not true DLRs which as we know should come on automatically when the car is started and turn off when the headlights come on.

I was wondering if they can be modified so the DRL park is separate to the parkers and be wired with the appropriate relay to make them proper DRLs.

Are there any the are wired this way out of the box?

I've done small thing in the past on other cars but I'm cautious doing it on my CJ which is under a dealer warranty, even though much of the electronics is not covered but I don't want to stuff anything up.

I also saw these from China, good price but I just wish we could get them locally and be sure they are 100% ok for the CJ.

As this was the first thread I read when considering DRLs thought I'd post a couple of pics of the genuine DRLs installed. Happy with them, seem bright, dim when headlights on, point the right direction, etc. The dealer left the position lamps in, I understand that's incorrect?

Forgot about this thread and thought I'd post an update.

Anyway got the DRLs that look stock and allow you to keep the fog lights.
They can wired so they are on but dimmed when the headlights come on, which according to what I've read is legal for stock DRLs but it is a gray area. Had then on since June without being pulled over.

They are wired so come on automatically when the car is started, they are not quite as flush as the genuine ones costing 3 times as much. They come in chrome, but I painted mine black for a more stealth look.

Here they are in chrome.

And painted black.

As you can see they are quite directional and the brightest point depends on where you are.

Yeah i've seen a few people with those. They're very good in terms of brightness. The way it glares on the camera as well really shows how bright it is. :)

Thanks for the update.

I think with DRLs becoming more common the Police are less likely to pull you over, even if they are technically not DRLs. Did hear of some cases years ago where drivers had to pull out their manual to prove they weren't fog lights and had no control over them being on.

And with the 2016 CJ we finally get DRLs as stock.

Yeah.

Mainly coloured DRLs or anything that's not white they'll pull you over for it. But on paper its illegal haha. But not anything of concern ;)
