I would say Brisbane to Sydney. It's around 10 hours. The roads are better and more stuff to visit on they way and the destination.

Brisbane to Cairns is more like 20 hours. In my opinion I wouldn't do that unless you HAD to. There is not really anything north of Rockhampton. Until you get to Townsville. That stretch is boring and dangerous.

That said I have always wanted to tour the Daintree in a fast car. The roads north of Cairns are very good.

It's a long boring drive. Then once you get to Cairns, some crazy chick will probably stab you.

Car is pretty new, you shouldn't need to much, just make sure you run with fresh engine oil + filter, check the coolant, brake fluid + pads, power steering fluid, make sure you have the right pressure in your tires and spare wheel
