seat heater wiring and switch

Postby aspir3 » Sun May 08, 2011 1:49 pm

Ok today i replaced my drivers seat cover as the leather was worn in an area.

Once I pulled the cover off I noticed my car is fitted with heater elements in my seat. I would guess all Olympic and Aspire models have the elements but are not wired in.

Can some one help me tell me what I need to get the seats wired up. There is a plug under seat but that is it. I assume i would need a switch and a wiring loom to the front seats. I know the Evo MR's have heated leather seats so if some one could look and help me please.

Here are some pictures.

Here is the heater element

Here is the plug under the seat that connects to the heater elements. It is the black one on the left that has nothing plugged in.

Thanks in advance.

I am getting old. it would be nice having warm seats in winter.

I've known about this for awhile now.

Just didn't bother as I usually don't bother much about the heated seats.

Switches are mounted in the center arm rest:

Switch is a part:

RRP= A$100+
CCJ = A$85

You can then figure out your own wiring loom or I can ask for a part as well.

So not only Olympic and Aspire.

All those with OEM leather seats will have this.

All I know is that I don't have the third plug, and the switch for the heater element is placed in the centre console in the flat spot just before the lid.

Thank Ofey.

So is the wiring to the switches?

Yes if you can find out what wiring looms I require and possible fuses to get them to work.

So you need wires to take it from the switch to that plug you photographed.
and
From the switch to your fuse box. I think the wiring loom is behind that blank square panel

Look at Page 8-30 of your owners manual. It's Fuse 25. See if there's a fuse and wiring from there out?

There is no fuse or wiring to fuse 25. I can not see a wiring loom by the arm rest either.

I know this is an option for overseas models so there must be a kit available from Mitsubishi in Japan which includes every thing.

I <3 my heated seats in my car and it makes such a difference in Winter. Who knows, maybe a DIY kit to set up heating in your car will be the next GB lol.

i noticed when i was installing my short shifter there were 2 plugs under the center console that clipped into nothing. (forget where they went exactly)

But maybe Troy pull the center console apart and have a look (its only a 5 minute job)

I did that and there was nothing there. The ones I think you are thinking of are for the HID active lights.

Not in line with other switches though. This one is twice the normal switch price. But I suppose there are really 2 switches in this one.

None. There are no wiring parts on the data base.

Need to have a look in an Evo MR. Those guys have this and could shed light on the wiring up.
