I'd like to wrap my roof so figure to do a good job the roof antenna needs to come off, which means the roof lining may need to come out. Anyone here done this before, looks like a lot of work.

To remove the roof lining there is a "how to" here on this forum. It worked for me.
The 3 x screws in each sunvisors had to be removed and i pop the lights out and undo the connection. Pretty simple stuff.
Cant remeber if there was anything else.
Been a while since we did it.
While you have the roof lining out i would go nuts with sound deadener inside the roof lining seeing though mitsubishi didn't do it in the first place

Caution! Take down the roof lining and its 100 t0 0ne, it wont go back in exactly the same!!!

Just take the wrap right up to antenna by cutting an X and sliding it over the antenna and cutting around carefully.
alternatively, cant think of what they call it. There's a product you stick down under the wrap where you want to cut it
and it gives you a nice clean cut exactly where you place it. Cant see how it could lift from that position, should be secure.

I think I know what you're talking about, great for strait lines but not to good for this. Guess the best solution is mould it to the base and carefully cut it without cutting the paint.

I have removed the roof lining from a Proton M21 once, but it was going to the tip. Only reason to remove the lining might be 2-3 birds with one stone, use something to darken the roof lining also see if there is any way to boost to antenna power but thats probably better done at the HU end?

I'll take it under advisement and see how we go, just planning right now.

You need to remember an antenna booster will only amplify your signal.
So if you have a bad signal to begin with then all you will do is amplify a bad signal and make it a much stronger louder/stronger bad signal.

Theres a few option. If you live in a captial city get a header unit that has support for Digital Radio. My kenwood ddx9017dabs does and there is a few others that do.
But be warned one your away from the captial cities you wont get digital radio.
Another option is to get the live feed from your radio station to your phone via internet on your phone and stream it to your HU via bluetooth or AUX input cable.
Or look at a better antenna for your car radio with a higher dB gain

Put something on the surface around the base of the antenna, place the wrap over it cut the wrap, carefully lift up the wrap from the rear, remove the something and done. No damaged paintwork!

Would you not be able to remove the c and b pillar plastic covers and rear handles and gently pull the hood lining down from the rear window and reach in there to undo the antenna? could require some gymnast like contortion, I'm lucky as there is a pre cut hole in the hood lining for easy access :D

I haven't tried to see if you can get under the edge of the base.

As for the antenna boost as far as I know there is no digital radio on the Sunshine Coast, don't really want to use data to listen to the radio through an app, which I can get on my Android HU. I've got a longer antenna which I hoped would help but its worse than the stock one.

Forgot to share this one for you. When I was taking photos of the sunroof workings for Reece, I noticed that by taking down the c piller covers, undoing the rear passenger grab handles and losening the b piller covers you can access the nut and wire for the antenna.

Thanks for the photo.

Too me it looks like you might have access by just taking on side off and reaching in with the door closed?

You need to take the grab handle or handles off, the hole in the hoodlining you can see in the foreground is a bolt hole for said grab handle. Definitely a door open job...

Oh I meant once you have the roof lining down there appears to be room to get the bolt out without doing much more.

Still a lot of work to get around the base for wrap job.

that makes sense now  the rear pillar covers come away easy enough, just the little tethers that stop them flying away when the air bag deploys, then the grab handles, 2 bolts each, and the b pillar covers 1 bolt each, more fiddly to get back on as the seatbelt height adjustment doesn't always play nice. Not to mention the rubber seals... okay yea,
a lot of work for a wrap :lolhit:

While you have the roof liner off
Take the opportunity to get some stage one sound deadener from car builders and do the roof

Yeah that would be a good idea... and a sun roof
