Stop seat belt chime ????

Hi Guys and Girls

please note I always put my seat belt on but when I put equipment on my drivers side the seat belt chime always alarms and is extremely annoying.

I have had quick search with out any luck on this matter so I am hoping to get some confirmation and clarity on this.

Under the drivers seat and the passenger seat there is two plugs, One black and one yellow, When you disconnect the black plug it turns off the seat belt chimes but does this interfere with the airbags been deployed???

Many thanks

if your not consistently having passengers you could have the seat belt clicked in the whole time.

i did it for a while, then i just started aimlessly throwing stuff on the back seat instead lol

Yellow plug and sheathed cable should be airbags throughout the entire vehicle. careful with this. airbags are expensive.

The more practical solution would be to just google "seat belt alarm stopper". they are like 80 cents. and are quite popular. Especially in countries that seat belts are considered optional.
Do not buy the seat belt extender clip things. that disable the chime but still allow you to buckle a seat belt. You do not want to put your passengers life at risk for a part that could have questionable quality control.

Easy fix.....just put all your stuff on the backseat or the passenger floor.Don't unplug anything under the seat, this will disable the airbag and seat belt pre-tensioner and could result in serious injuries in the event of an accident.

How heavy does something need to be on the seat for the alarm to sound?

I put stuff on the front seat also but it's much safer to put anything heavy on the floor, or in the boot!

Probably a good solid couple of kg's, mine whinges when I put heavy grocery bags on them, I usually just move them on to the floor.

For safety reason everything should be secured in the car or boot.
To stop the chime put the passenger seat belt in. Problem solved

If you have something on the passenger seat and have it clipped in, the airbags could go off in an accident. These will not be covered by insurance.

You may be able to disable the chime within the etacs. Maybe if you can find someone with a cable and Etacs decoder they can try to disable it for you.

Any tampering with ANY safety system on your car is illegal and could result in a defect notice.Just put your stuff on the floor or in the back.

Depending on the age of the ETACS module it may be able to be done there is an option that allows the changing of the passenger seat warning mode.
