Check for 12 volt at the seats. What wires have 12 volt?

@ Adrian aka age69er43 & others interested.

I have an MY09 Aspire which came factory fitted with seat heaters but NO switch, connectors or wiring harness to activate them.
In mid 2014, I was luck enough to come across a wrecking Lancer which had the seat heaters, switch, connectors & wiring harness etc.
So I purchased everything (switch, connectors & wiring harness etc) except the seat since I already had them.
I fitted it all, and both Seat Heaters work on either Hi or Low setting, the Switch lights-up when vehicle lights are turned on.

Here is a detailed "self drawn - wiring diagram" of the "Factory OEM" wiring layout --->
As fitted from the Sub Board behind the Glove Box to the Switch in the Centre Console to the Wiring Connectors under the Seats.

Right Click then select View Image to enlarlge each diagram
Note: The colors on this diagram are the same colors as the Factory OEM Wiring Harness colors.

Here is another "self drawn - wiring diagram" supplied to me from another US source.

To complete this project, you will need all the Factory Wiring & Connectors already in your vehicle
(check under the Cup Holder section in your Console)

If you "DO NOT" have the Factory Wiring Harness & Connectors --->
Then you will need to Supply & Fit your own Fuse, Relay, Wires & Connectors.

Front View: A Mini 30Amp Fuse & Mini 4 Pin Relay (far right) as shown in the Sub Board behind the Glove Box (bottom of first diagram)
Image

Rear View: You can see the (Cut-Wire) Light Green "Power Wire" which feeds power to the "Seat Heater Switch"

Seat Heater Switch

Seat Heater Switch "White Plug" (with wires already inserted)
This Plug "DOES NOT" come with the OEM Switch purchase.
It's part of the Factory OEM Wiring Harness found under the Cup Holder in the Console.
Image

If you "DONT" have this Plug (since you Don't have the Factory OEM Wiring Harness in your vehicle) --->
Then you will need to connect your wiring directly to each individual pin behind the switch.

Crimp wires to suitable size crimp connectors, then apply Heat Shrink to each to prevent Shorting Out with other wires.
I think these from Jaycar will fit... Link = 2.5mm Phone Type Crimp Connectors PT-4520 (15 pkt $2.95)

Note the "Heavy" Gauge Wiring
Red (Top Left) = "Hi" Setting for Driver Seat.
Green (Top Right) = "Lo" Setting for Drivers Seat.

White (Bottom Left) = "Hi" Setting for Passenger Seat.
Blue (Bottom Right) = "Lo" Setting for Passenger Seat.

Yellow (Bottom Left) = Power (Connected to the Green Wire coming from the Sub Board behind the Glove Box)

Note the "Light" Gauge Wiring
White (Middle) = Power for Switch Illumination (connect to Dash Lights Active Power wire)
Green (Top Right) = Ground/Earth for Switch Illumination (connect to chassis under console)
Black (Bottom Right) = Ground/Earth for Hi / Lo Switch (connect to chassis under console)

I Hope these diagrams & info Help anyone wishing to activate the Seat Heaters in their seats. (providing you "DO HAVE" the Heating Elements fitted in you Seats)
No Responsibility from Me will be Entered Into via what you do with your Lancer.
This Info is provided as a guide that works in my vehicle according to the Factory OEM Wiring Diagram.
You should be aware of electrical wiring principals, fuses, relays & connectors before attempting this project.
You are Responsible for whatever wiring changes and/or inclusions within your vehicle.

Updated my Original post .... Please Check for more include Info.

@ Adrian aka age69er43

If you don't have the Copper Busbar ..... then it should be OK to connect your Active Power to the 30Amp Fuse.

The copper bar needs to be there because it connects the power to the fuse supply.

Sam that is a fantastic white up. Well done.

Very weird why mine isn't working, my car has everything except the loom from the switch to the clips in the cup holder console, but I have purchased that loom and switch from a 2014 lancer, my relay gets warm and the switch lights up when head light are on.... Hmmmm.

The seat warmers take 5mins or more before you notice then getting hot, and that's with you sitting them.

No Probs Adrian, Happy to Help.

Do your seats warm-up quickly or do they take a little while like 3-5 minites ... ?

by age69er43
takes about 3-4 min, do yours stay on all the time or pulses?

Posted: Wed Jan 27, 2016 12:35 pm
by SAM-24A
Yes they Pulse On & Off because each seats circuitry is controlled by a Thermostat.

Otherwise they would just keep getting hotter & hotter until the Heater Elements in the seat burn-up and possibly causing the seat to catch fire.... *flame*

You can see in this Schematic Drawing that shows the Thermostat.
