help- Wiper Blades

Postby niro86 » Sun Jun 12, 2011 11:52 am

Sorry If this topic had been posted here before. I am thinking to change me wiper blades and just wondering any particular brand I should get. I know in January there was a GB and I missed it. I also got know that people here using Bosch Aerotwin wipers. Do you know where I can get this at a reasonable price? Super Cheap Auto and Autobarn don't sell them anymore. Any advise will be highly appreciate.

Repco sells thier version which apparently isn't too bad.

You will be looking at getting a 24" and a 18" I believe.

I jsut bought some from wiperblades.co.uk - well for the two other cars. Got my lancer's one form the GB

Below is the link to buy the twin pack - which is on sale and is about $40 delivered to Australia.

Hi milobob and niro (and others),

Thanks for the info and I know this is an old thread but I am looking at replacing my wipers which are showing signs of decay now. I'm hesitant to use them most of the time because they make things that much worse..

That aside, I'm really eager to pick up the Bosch Aerotwin's after hearing such positive things about them.

My only question is what attachment do we need? The link above is for the "Retrofit Flat" but I also see the "Super Plus" and "Super Plus Spoiler". The retrofit description suggests it suits much older cars and it's a little more expensive.

Can anyone with Bosch Aerotwin's on their Lancer (ES here, though I imagine they're all the same) advise what fitting I need? If you could share your model numbers (i.e. AR24U & AR18U) that would be great.

Cheers!

Thanks a lot Rahul! I did notice in last year's group buy that the part number was different (BBA600 / BBA450). Am I missing something here?

The Bosch ones are good, the stock ones I had squeaked too much and were dragging at times even when the car was brand new.

I would suggest not replacing your wiper in the beginning of summer as they will hardly get used plus hot sun really deteriorates the rubber. Best to replace them before winter and make sure your windscreen is really clean and no little dents.

Thanks all. aspir3, it rains quite a bit here in summer so I will have no choice but to replace them. Car is garaged/undercover most of the time so hopefully they will last. Current blades have been on for 3 years so even if I get half as long out of the Bosch's I'll be happy.

To answer my own question earlier (re: Super Plus, Super Plus Spoiler) these models were not AeroTwin's.

There does seem to be 2 types of AeroTwin's for our cars; AR604S (twin pack) and the AR24U/AR18U twin pack. The AR604S is a "specific" retrofit (as compared to "universal") and I'm not sure how it differs from the AR24U/AR18U twin pack. The part selector suggests it will fit the Lancer and it's about 7GBP cheaper so I will probably grab them.

Cheers

EDIT: For the record, I picked them up for 23.35 GBP delivered. Comes to $36.50 AUD at time of writing.

I think you guys are using the wrong size wiper blades!

Our OEM wiper is made by NWB (Nippon Wiper Blade Co Ltd). The wiper blades are attached to the vehicle using a standard hook shape wiper arm.

I took a tape measure and found:
Driver side: 600mm or 24 inch
Passenger side: 425mm or 17 inch

If buying overseas from wiperblades.co.uk (cheaper) the correct model: AR24U & AR17U

If buying locally from au.bosch-automotive-shop.com the correct model: BBA600 & BBA425

I know...I'm just mentioning it for ClubCJ members benefit.

It seems like most are buying 18 inch wiper blades, it's the wrong size :!:
