ofey wrote:Actually NO.

Without cutting the holes, the Evo nose won't fit and it'll protrude out.

cant the protruding bit be cut to be flush on the bumper as tadez said?

does it stick out from the side after installed? I am just afraid that overlap will make it stick out too much.

If you cut the holes. It will not protrude at all. Will sit flush.

All you need is a new front end, fog lights, the grill for the fog lights and the stone trays that go underneath, there are two, thats all. you do not need a VIN number if you know who to talk to and all the parts will fit right on with minor modifiations to one of the stone trays, i know i was the first one to to this, and it was done to an aspire. But after all that, i just got a ralliart in the end, as i needed the power to match, I also did the rear end, whidh was even easier than the front. with a ralliart muffler. All you need is to get part of the exhaust mod to fit to the non RA pipe, but its pretty easy. Just do it the car will look awesome!

ofey wrote:If all you want, is the same as Ozies where you get the center bit with air vents cut out, you can do that easily with a A$150 part known as the Evo Nose which you can see below: c) [b:e1592d3ccd]Evo X front Nose Piece[/b:e1592d3ccd] [img:e1592d3ccd]http://www.newpages2u.com/images/1235976343f1279a02a338d0b23793838d25f013a0.jpg[/img:e1592d3ccd] [b:e1592d3ccd]Cost[/b:e1592d3ccd]: A$150 Delivered Comment: Requires you to cut your front bumper bar! .

Can I just ask for a bit more clarification on what part of the front bumper bar I'd be cutting when installing the Evo X nose piece? Sorry for being a bit noob.

Looking to get this when I get my SX in a couple months, and would just like to see if this part would fit. Thanks.

Edit: nevermind. found some pics portraying what you mean

Hmmmmm I wonder if the new 2012 VRX Ralliart bumper will fit our older year VRXs???

The Whole bumper with all accompanying parts fog lights etc.

If its mounting holes/points can fit/be fitted to older VRXs then A new 2012 VIN will be needed. hate to see how much it would cost, probably more than the $2500 mentioned in Irving's post.

time will tell.

@aussie27: It would probably be the same bumper bar already available now minus the badge. No point for mits to recreate something they already have.

I suspect the VIN requirement will be removed.

Price should come down as well since more cars use it.

Good point Irving, yes price may come down due to wider use.

Alignment of mounting points may be an issue as I mentioned ,the dealers and their service/parts manuals may have the answer.
Im happy with my modded nose with blacked out bumper and centre spoiler but if I ever had a minor accident and needed to get it replaced I'll look into it.

UPDATE 16 AUG 2012

I just emailed MMA on the website today asking if the 2012 bumper can be mounted on earlier Model car. if clips etc all line up or are totally different.
Here is their response--

Dear Mr Matthew

Thank you for contacting Mitsubishi Motors Australia Ltd (MMAL). Receipt of your correspondence is acknowledged.

As previously advised we escalated your query to a technical specialist and have been advised that the bumpers should be interchangeable however MMAL do not endorse fitting components not intended for a particular vehicle therefore, if the bumper does not fit or if there are any other issues we do not take any responsibility and will not be liable for costs incurred by the customer.

It is recommended that you research this thoroughly before making your final decision.

Thank you for providing us the opportunity to comment and we trust the above clarifies our position on the matter.

Regards,

Julia

RESPONSE 21 AUGUST 2012

My response back to her in reply to their basically useless, "I couldn't be bothered actually researching your Q properly at all" response above is below.

Hi Julia,
I thank you for your prompt response but need a more definitive yes or no re the alignment of mounting holes and clips for the bumper on my 2007 car and the 2012 model with the Ralliart style bumper. And the under body tray fitment etc if these are different.
Saying it 'should" fit does not answer my Q.
Telling me ; "It is recommended that you research this thoroughly before making your final decision."

That is why I have contacted MMA directly.

My research in this matter can go no higher or further than from your technical dept, Mitsu Motors is the manufacturer, NO ONE ELSE can give me a definitive answer but your technical engineering dept.
I assumed your dept could look up CAD drawings of the bumper parts and vehicle front end schematics to determine whether all the mountings etc will line up or not and that the bolts or clips etc also fit each required hole.

The dealers have no clue and no customer is going to order parts worth over $2500 , have them delivered to a dealer or body shop and then have to send them back if they do not fit because mountings do not align or a bolt hole on the 2012 bumper now aligns with a clip hole on the past year car body.

Given I have owned 4 Mitsu cars for over 30 continuous yrs in Australia and the US I don't think a little more investigation time into this issue by the appropriate dept either here in Aust or in Japan if necessary is unreasonable.
There are a number of Mitsu owners of CJ Lancers in our Australia wide car club who are interested in this info as they wish to fit these new ralliart style bumpers and the associated fog lights, under body trays etc to their older 2007-2011normally aspirated cars.
I would appreciate you forwarding this email up to the appropriate people to get definite answers to the specific issues I have raised from the engineering drawings as I have mentioned.
I await your response,
Thank you, Matthew

i inquired the same thing to a mistubishi dealer here and they basically said the same to me as what the mitsubishi said to you, the whole point of us asking them is for them to look up in the systems quite dumb that they dont answer with a definite yes or no.
