New member 2015 Sportback Rear Diffuser questions.

Postby Lancerman » Wed Dec 30, 2015 11:37 am

.....

G"day all,

My first post on here ( apart from new member intro a few weeks back ).

Couple of weeks back bought my first ever Mitsy :)

New 2015 GSR Sportback 2.4 CVT. Love it, glad I bought it, Mrs and our two screenage kids love it too.

Nothing flash, I had to stick to a $20k-ish budget so no Ralliart/Evo for me  , gave the Mrs car ( 2005 Honda Jazz VTI-S ) to our daughter who just got her licence so needed a quick replacement within budget.

Anyway,

Apologies if this or similar question has been asked before but......

The bum of my GSR looks like Grandma's skirt got blown up in the wind !!

Grannie's bloomers aren't pretty !!!!!!!

Question 1:-

I'd like to fit a rear diffuser to my car like this one here

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/CJ-LANCER-HA ... 432wt_1124

The seller specifies 07 to 2013 fitment. Is/would/could there be any difference between Sportback 2013 and Sportback 2015 design that might negate me fitting this.

Anyone ever fit one of these to a GSR Sportback? or similar ?

Any pics?

Another problem...... maybe ....... ?

I have a dealer fitted towbar that might mean some modifying any diffuser.

Anyone have any ideas?

Anyone done it with towbar?

Question 2:-

Currently has single exhaust, looks shite.........

Any dual outlet exhaust out there for my car that might bolt up fairly easy ( obviously with some mods like hangers etc ) .

Are the Ralliart Sportback exhausts same/similar ?

If so, does it have to be from a Sportback or are the sedan ones the same ?

I'll probably think if other questions as soon as I hit the " submit" button but this'll do for now.

All constructive advice appreciated,

Cheers,

Terry.

........

P.S.

One more thing......

Are the factory 2015 exhausts stainless or mild steel ?

OK, I'll shut up now......... :?

1. You're best of asking the seller of the product if it fits as far as I know 2013 has the same shape as 2015. I've got a rear bumper (dual exhaust) with a diffuser underneath but my car isn't a GSR SportBack. Check out Mars Performance and just get a whole new rear bumper. With my new rear bumper you would not fit a towbar as it sits lower, wouldn't even fit with the stock exhaust (mine starting melting).

2. Theres a fair few bolt on options check out GReddy and XFactor but if you put on a diffuser/new rear bumper the position of the exhaust tips will change due to the cutouts position being changed. You're probably better buying the bumper/diffuser 7ou want and getting a muffler place to put in a custom exhaust system to fit.

3. Lancer CJs come with stainless steel piping so your car will be the same.

4. I'm not sure if they're bolt on or not maybe ask your dealership.

Interesting to see that the Talon diffuser comes with 2 tips, 1 for the original exhaust and a fake one that bolts to diffuser.

Not 100% sure but I don't think a dual exhaust from a Ralliart etc. would fit a 2015 as the position the pipes from the cat are different. Some come from the centre of the car to mufflers but newer cars the exhaust comes from the side over the axle.

.......

Thanks for the replies fellas :)

The seller of the above mentioned Evilbay rear diffuser said he's sold 3 of them to owners of 2014 Sportbacks and they didn't have any fitment problems. He said as far as he knows from late 2007 onwards they were all the same bodies so should all fit.

Mooman,

Yep, fake second pipe for my run-o-the-mill Sportback until I can afford to twin pipe exhaust it.

Without yet sticking my head under my car , I'm also guessing my Sportback exhaust runs along the drivers side more than the middle of the car so I'd say it'll have to be a custom exhaust made for when I go to do it.
